Grape anyone? What's in a name.

I recently smoked some Grape LA.
I hadn't tried it before, but I knew it was from DNA Genetics.
My friend who purchased it at the dispensary commented that is was not grape tasting at all.
I explained that it was actually just an acronym for grapefruit.
He said, "That's misleading, I wanted a grape tasting strain".

I thought about it... and I tend to agree.

I remember enjoying strains like "Grape Ape" and a few others that had a sweet grape flavor.
The Sleeskunk I grew this summer tasted like grape jelly.

When you think about other strains like Tangie, Agent Orange, California Orange Bud, they all taste like the name suggests.

What are a few strains we can name that are grape tasting?
Should Grapefruit flavors be referred to as GF?

I got the DNA Og Grape Krypt, was looking for something grape tasting, I assumed wrongly that grape fx was a grape tasting strain but like you said it's grapefruit which is nothing a like. I don't think it tastes like grapefruit either.

Just another way to market shit in a misleading way, leave it to the cannabis industry lol.

I have had one grape tasting strain ever, I never grew it myself it came from a friend, it was King's Kush I believe from Greenhouse. To date that is the only thing i've had that has tasted anything like grapes.

I have no idea how grapefruit turned into grape and grape fx or any of the other misleading shit seems dumb.

While I appreciate your correction of my inaccurate use of the word, 'acronym", it was not actually used in the conversation with my friend and doesn't change the topic of the thread.
My point is the confusion between strain names and their flavor profiles.

real deal purple urkel has a grapey taste, strawberry cough has a smell and taste of strawberries, my dj shorts blueberry cut is straight up blueberry muffins lets see, Dawgshit smells like shit, Cheese smells like some aged cheese.


As someone else mentioned often name just describes the parents, an F1 cross of Blueberry and Strawberry Cough will have a ratio of something like 1:2:2:1 (my ratios could be off I don't have any breeding materials around me). What that means is you'll have some like the mom, some like the dad and most a mix of both leaning one way or the other so you could end up with some plants that smell like neither and actually display a smell from a parent of those 2 lines.

As much as I dislike his breeding practices and his lines because of that Subcool has the marketing part down with all his little fan boys n girls. Hell Sub would take a hermie prone female x hermie prone male call it Herman Munster and it'd be sold out of every seed bank with no real testing down, or like he did in Washington a few years back ignore the testing results and release it anyway.

Yes, i was being pedantic, you were unable to grasp the meaning of my post thinking i was agreeing with you, so had to go on and explain so as to point out that you might not know what an acronym was

I have grown grape strains, and like with countless other strains, they didn't smell or taste anything like their description. It was marketing. In the same way that if you put purple in the name of something, people will buy it, because of the word purple.

There is even evidence of a form of power of suggestion. take cheese as an example. People start talking about it's cheesey taste and smell, cheese does not smell or taste of cheese, it was named cheese because of the similarities in taste and smell, but because of the similarities between the strain and cheese both being able to completely stink out a room.

I grew strawberry haze. I never expected it to smell, look, or taste anything like strawberry, i was not disappointed.

Marketing is made much easier when there is no government entity with the power to fine you for misrepresentation

So...I'm a fan boy because I've ran some TGA, and loved about half of it? Whatever.

I never bought into any of the marketing, but got 2 Dairy Queen and 2 Chernobyl freebies in a promo a few years ago. All 4 were fems, all 4 were very good except one Chernobyl that was flat out the most amazing lime sticky gob of goo I'd ever seen. I kind of thought it might be a good idea to try some more from that company after that. In most cases, I was right.

I could give a crap about the people behind the buds that end up making me happy. I'm not going to meet or hang out w/ Soma or Sub or Bodhi or Swerve or Arjan or Adam or Esko or Don and Aaron........I only care about whether the products they peddle make me happy. Chernobyl, Ripped Bubba, Dairy Queen, CheeseQuake and Timewreck have all made me very happy, while Space Bomb did not. Guess that only makes me an 84% fanboy, dammit !

Back to the topic, which is a good one: I love good cheese because it tastes and smells like fruit cocktail; nothing like cheese. Chernobyl should have been names lime sherbet or slurpee - in 4 fems, it's always reeked of lime w/0 fail. Pineapple Express smelled and tasted like oranges which would have been fine had it bot been so weak. I dunno.....got a short Goji almost done, and it smells very berry. Can't say if it's a goji berry or not; I've never had one...lol.
