My Mexican Ditch Weed

In an outdoors grow where this bag seed came from, the seed could have one of many different fathers,,, even from miles away. Could have been from the neighbors killer personal strain, you just never know. Might want to take a clone before it gets into heavy flower. If it turns out to be a boy then you can kill the clone to.....
Never thought of that, as it likely would have several different sources of male pollen

I won't clone it because I can't do a perpetual grow. I'm limited to a winter indoor/HPS and my upcoming 2014 summer time indoor/sunshine grow, to which I wouldn't want to use these mexi's

I'm going to grow a feminized auto this summer, as our fall comes too soon and the amount of direct sunlight I get is rather pathetic by October .

With an auto, I should be able to harvest by mid September (any suggestions for a decent auto)?

cheers

They are showing female preflowers with the exception of the runt which is not showing any signs of gender

I really only wanted 2 females as I don't think I have enough room for all of them, but since I didn't top them, there may be enough room for 3 or 4

Typically I would kill the runt, but this one looks so unique that I will keep it going should it be female.

The largest one in the 2.84 litre juice bottle (pic 1) was started in a dirt cube and was 4 days behind the others, but came on strong and quickly became the biggest..... I thought it was going to be male but it's not.
need to transplant that plant asap

I'm hoping they stop growing taller and start growing the buds instead as I only have a few more inches of height adjust left, beyond that will require a re-design

I guess I'm being impatience but the flowering is taking forever, considering my first day of 12/12 was Feb 7th.

Just added a 10x12 black tarp which has really helped make the room darker during those sunny evenings.

I gave the runt some sun.....see how the little pig leans over to gobble up as much of that natural sunshine as she can.

I even let her go beyond normal bedtime just because she was loving it so much, yeah I know it's not a good thing to do, but it just doesn't matter that much.

cheers

thanks DJ...I already snipped a few off that were turning yellow, this strain does produce large fan leaves, but it's the bud that counts

In retrospect, I should have topped these gals as I can not believe how tall they are growing, and they are not stopping.

I have max'ed out my light height, so I need to design something new to allow for more height......my weekend project

Anyhow, the buds seem to be developing decently but with such stretching the lower buds are just not going to develop much, as they are so far from the light source

cheers

Subbed the fuck up, this grow is awesome and hilarious! I think even Louis CK could agree with that.
Brother you better find a way to flower those girls. It would immobilize you, but if worst comes to worst find a way to lean them sideways without doing any crazy supercrops; just keep the medium vertical as that could stunt growth. There must be a way to secure the base and tie the tops down! Absolute final straw would be to chop the main colas eeeekkk and hope the hormones redistribute nicely to the rest. I ran some bag Mexican sativa before and let me tell you, it got interesting! Feeling very nostalgic . Goodluck!!

Ps- vertical side lighting??

I was able to obtain a few more inches of height, should be good as they seem to have stop growing taller

Yeah no side lighting, as I'm just not worried about it

When you say your Mexican sativa got interesting, can you elaborate on the issues you had, and how was the final outcome

just some updated pics....got some more head room by putting some cigar boxes under the feet of the coat rack, so should be good til the end of the grow

I put the runt into the sunshine when we have those odd nice winter days, the others are too much effort to move around

The things got way too tall so I killed off a ton (wasting a lot of good soil, etc. in the process) so that I could lean the remainders at 90 degrees. By the time I was done I had girls that went vertical-horizontal-vertical and looked ridiculous lol! And I even chopped them too early given the genetics! I was so new I just didn't know the what's what. But the product was actually still very smokable and the whole process was a lot of fun. That's why when I saw this I was cheesing hard hahaha :bigjoint:

Glad you got the extra height. Your grow is sweet because it's a totally hacked up rig that'll get you everything you need, and the use of the sun always gets praise in my book- just seems right. It's cool to see a very nonchalant grow around a forum full of people trying to reinvent the wheel. Still, even if you put some cfls, or a 250hps at the dense canopy level, below the 4 tall ass colas, that light would hit such a nice spread of canopy that your yield would be another 30%+ for sure! Just my 2 :)

LOL, yeah I am being rather nonchalant about this grow, as I'm not really into it, actually finding it a bit of a chore

There has been several days I just felt like tearing it all down as it's not going the way I expected, nor do I foresee great results.

The plants have grown way too tall and are rather unstable, and I question the genetics

The bulb is not new (has a previous grow with it), and my setup is not working as good as I hoped for, as I'm sure I'll have heat issues once the warm weather arrives

Anyhow, just my rant for the day, more pics

cheers

I love projects like this. Just wondering what if any strain it might be.. looks awesome. you have to be prepared for stretch with sativas.. but it looks good and grown right it will produce buds far superior to the product that was bricked

here is what i have had to deal with currently, .. the trick is just to bend them over once you think they are getting too tall, that pretty much stops the upward growth, though your stems are probaby not flexible enough now at this stage

Well, i'm subbed. I grew a mexican ditch seed for my first grow, and it was a total disaster. Ended up with less then an 8th, and it was all due to inexperience. You're miles ahead of where I was...

It could have been worse though I suppose. I didn't keep track of anything, and have NO idea how long it took. It had to be a few months though.
