How am I wrong? I have made my case perfectly clear. By the time 12/12 occurs naturally, frost is already on the ground in much of North America. Exceptions are U.S.D.A. Agriculture Zones 8, 9, and 10.

12/12 is artificial. For INDOOR use only. It has no bearing whatsoever on OUTDOOR growing in most of the continent. Diminishing light cycles trigger flowering, not 12/12. 12/12 is an INDOOR technique.

Why is that so hard for you to accept? You are not arguing with me, but nature itself. Now quit disseminating bad information!

I will give you an example from my physical location.

I live in U.S.D.A Zone 8b. My location will hit 12/12 exactly on October 23, 2008. The first average frost date for Zone 8b is November 15th.

By your calculations, my plants won't begin flowering UNTIL October 23rd, giving them 23 days to flower and finish before the first frost on November 15, 2008.

Please explain how I plan to harvest BEFORE the natural cycle hits 12/12 on 10/23/2008.

Please further explain how I've been getting away with it for so long.

I suppose I'm just wrong.

well i dunno but mine always flowered a lil earlier than 12 but i think the shorter days do trigger it........a pot plant is considered a "short day plant"
"All known strains of Cannabis are wind-pollinated[8] and pro "seeds" that are technically called achenes.[9] Most strains of Cannabis are short day plants,[8] with the possible exception of C. sativa subsp. sativa var. spontanea (= C. ruderalis), which is commonly described as "auto-flowering" and may be day-neutral." wiki...

johnny-o u are wasting your time arguing your point. you are absolutley right and couldnt explain it better. if he doesnt want to believe it then allow his knowledge of decreasing light triggering plant flowering to stop there, as he seems to be stubborn and fine with his lack of knowledge in the matter.

You are absolutely right. He's a lost cause.

A lot of shit gets passed off as knowledge here and I can't keep my mouth shut sometimes.

This confusion stems from a misconception of the difference between grow methods. Hydro and soil methods are confused regularly. Indoor and outdoor techniques are likewise convoluted.

It's very easy to shoot your mouth off here knowing absolutely nothing about growing. I simply can't let bad information pass unchallenged.

Yea, I agree with you bro. I mean, think about auto flowering plants. They will go into the flowering stage whether or not they are given 12 hours of light or 18 hours of light.

Outdoors there is only one valid reason for topping: security. Even security issues can be addressed without topping.

Your plant is doing great. It will show sex very soon and you should have plenty of time to flower and finish. Hell, it ain't even mid-summer yet.

Hey thanks johnny!

Probally a good thing i left em' alone then, I mean it is taller than every thing around it and is quite noticable to the trained eye..any other ways to cover em' up somehow...i tried pullin crazy big weeds out and coverin that way but they just die of course and brown up making it more obvious...

Ive been using 30-10-10 on this one still, should i switch to 20-20-20 or keep it at 30-10-10 for awhile? I have stuff from 2 yearsv ago, is it too old to use or does it stay good for quite some time?

cant really give a good answer at all yet...Since you started really late u could only get a quarter but it all depends on how you treat it... my first grow i started some right about this time and only got a little over an 1/8 but that was because it was in the shade most of the day...it all depends...

Straight answer?

Your plant is TEN days old. You do not know its pedigree. You want to know what size harvest you will reap. Here's a straight answer. There is no way to be certain.

What I can tell you is what MIGHT happen. What might happen has many variables. Just as I know what days the postal carrier delivers and approximately what time he is in the neighborhood. I can never be certain of exactly when he will arrive on any given day. I can estimate based on my knowledge of the variables, but I can NEVER be certain. That's precisely what you are doing by asking us to predict yield, but there are many variables which have not been addressed.

Back to the mail carrier analogy. Here are some of the variables which affect exactly what time they will arrive at my mailbox:
The weather;
The volume of mail, both pick-up and delivery; and
The overall well-being of the carrier. Did the carrier get some twang the night before? If so, maybe there is a spring in their step.

Your variables:
Unknown strain;
Unknown plans for the application of fertilizers;
Unknown location. The U.S. is on the larger side when we discuss the land mass of sovereign nations. That knocks out the next variable;
Climate. And finally;
Experience of the grower. Probably the most important in that yield is directly proportionate to the experience of the grower. I learn from experience, a.k.a. mistakes, all the time and would never consider myself an expert. Just deciding you want to be a weed baron and planting a few seeds does not automatically make you one.

What I can tell you is that you probably have enough time to expect a respectable harvest, assuming the other variables remain favorable. I can also say that outdoor harvests greatly outpace indoor harvests in terms of yield. But it takes time and patience.

Is that straight enough for you?

The 20-20-20 fertilizer is good for now. Age is largely irrelevant when talking about fertilizer. Soon you may choose to go with a fertilizer with a higher middle (P) number to aid flower production.
