I have been trying to find out what exactly the type of bulbs Black Dog uses by writing to them. Unfortunately, they informed me that it is top secret, and top of the line stuff. Here is my transcripts:
I bought a 360U, and so far I am very pleased with it.I have read the type of bulbs used make a difference.
I was wondering what type of bulbs you use in your lights?
Are they name brand like Cree or Sylvania, or are they cheaper type bulbs?
Thanks for contacting Black Dog LED. We use a number of different, high end manufacturers to source our LEDs. We need do this because no single manufacturer can provide all the different colors we use, with the quality and reliability of light needed to meet our industry leading standards. Our spectrum, the most complex on the market, is highly proprietary so we are very careful about providing specific details, our website does have some helpful information.
That being said, we have the most comprehensive warranty in the LED grow light market and only use high quality LEDs, absolutely no short-cuts, no knock-offs.
Hope you enjoy your light and if you have any questions about gardening with it, do not hesitate to email or call us.
Can you tell me the high end manufacturers of the bulbs you use? As each type of color is made, I would like to know who makes them, specifically. The website does not provide these details.
I assure we do not cut corners when we decide on any of our light's parts, including the LEDs. We have spent a lot of time running side-by-side tests to determine not only what works, but what works best; what's needed, and what isn't. Our light's spectrum is proprietary, I can tell you it includes everything from UVA to IR, with several reds, blues, amber, green... Each of the colors we include targets a specific need for the plant to maximize growth, flowering, yield and quality.
We offer a 90 day return policy on one light; if you grow with it for up to 90 days and you don't agree that it is the best plant light you've ever grown with, we'll refund your money (minus shipping costs, and up to a 10% restocking fee if the unit is not in good condition). We're sure once you grow with a Black Dog LED light, you'll be impressed with what our light can do.
I wonder what else I can do to get this info from them. Does the Black Dog team really hide the fact that they use inferior products? Or are they trying to protect their light systems against copycats?
