Humidity Question - please help

im currently in 12/12 first week, if i leave my dehumidifier in the tent my lights on temps are around 26-27c (78-80f) and humidity 48%, lights off temps are hitting 23-24c (75f) and humidity around 52-55%.

now if i take the dehumidifier out my light on temps are around 24c (75f) and 50% humidity, but lights out are 20c (68f) but getting up to 70% humidity.
am i better to just leave the dehumidifier in the tent for lower humidity?

At 70%+ you are looking at mold and mildew forming rather easily. Do what ever it takes to keep it 55% or below. I've been through all this shit before with mold and trust me you don't want to deal with it.

I find it is more effective to control the rh in the larger room the tent sits in then the tent itself. the air in the tent exhausts out quickly so better to control what goes in. It also helps prvent it from heating the air in the tent...

I agree with GrowingDad, how big is the room? Wouldn't it be better to dehumidify the room?

i tried to do the room outside which isnt that big, about 3m x 2m and i was getting those higher readings

ps I bought 2 little throwaway dehumidifiers but don't think they're gonna do the job properly somehow

same problem in a 4 by 4 tent here, dense canopy and vented hood could be contributing to the cause of it. words disappeared from above post when I uploaded the pics... oops

Sorry to drop in on your thread but what is the cutoff humidity level 70%? I have a window unit ac in my room, I figured it would keep the humidity down to tolerable levels, what do u guys think? will the ac be enough?

air conditioner? i don't think normal window AC units do anything for the humidity, and i would not want to go above 50% just to be safe.

ac units do remove humidity, i just am wondering if it will do a good enough job for my 5x6x7 room. I will keep an eye on my humidity levels now though and keep them around 50%, thanks.

If you are going to get a dehumidifier you may as well swing for the fences and get a large reliable one. One 70gpd unit keeps my 1500 sqft basement at 45% year round.

yeah ive got a real good dehumidifier, but the wife is grumbling that its not been used upstairs in the house haha. am going to have to buy another one

mine have taken it down to 64 from 70+ but still not enough grrrr. removed the glass from the vented hood this evening so see if that helps
