Young Plant Shrivelling Up ??? (with pics).

12 Days ago I transplanted 12 cuttings to the 600w MH.
They seemed to be fine then, a few days ago, one of them started to shrink and shrivel up.

The pictures show all of the young plants on day 6
and individual pictures of the problem plant
and 3 others (to show context) on day 12.

The dripper system is providing as much feed/water as for the others
the temp/RH is fine......

So why has this one plant gone south????

(On the picture of all 12 the problem plant is in the middle, 2nd row back from the front).

I see issue 1 being flood stakes position.

If roots haven't fully extended that rockwool cube then could be getting little to no water.


Reposition blue steak so that its right next to the block.


Then await and see.

The cube's getting plenty water.
I even hand watered for a few days - to make sure.

What do the symptoms suggest?
A lack of water...?
An excess of water...?
Overfeeding, underfeeding...?

Pic 1 appears to be under feeding.

Can you confirm the dripper is DEFINATELY working?

Looks like a different thickness of tube too.

Not sure it's wise to have the drip tube aiming directly at the stem, that could cause rotting of the stem, replace the tube to the outer edge of the pot making sure it moistens all the hydroton or whatever pebbles they are, do you check your nutes with a tds meter? it's as important as ph when it comes to hydro.

I see overwatering and over feeding (for the amount of roots that are there due to overwatering)
Don't drip so often, it bet your rock wool is soaked. And don't feed until you have a healthy root base.

Also where is the healthy plants in your last pic? All 12 of those need help, and by the looks of them they're running out of energy. Might be quicker to get new clones going. Good luck man.

Yes - Dripper defo working
it's 13 plants in a Wilma 9
so I used a T splitter and extra tubing (the transparent stuff) to connect an extra pot.

If anything the rockwool is too wet.

The others are doing fine.
The pic of 12 was taken when they had only just gone in
the pics of individual plants shows the contrast between the problem plant
and the healthy ones.

I check EC and pH every day.
And I measure levels when mixing every new batch of feed.

The block was wet so I have moved the dripper a little further away from the stem.

HUMIDITY
The RH rarely reaches 30%.
I use half plastic bottles as domes, when the plants first leave the prop.

I'm thinking that algae from my rainwater may be behind many of my problems.

I've bought a 100l water butt, to replace the old, lidless barrel I've been using
and I intend to change all clear/transparent tubing for coloured.

I've also moved it forward, so it's on the middle front edge
rather than direct centre under the reflector.

Out of the 13 cuttings that I rushed under the 600w MH
10 seem very strong and vigorous.
2 had a hard start but now seem to be pulling through, slowly.
and the 'problem plant' did fine for its first week
then started to shrivel and shrink.
