This isn't about the best films
or most successful star.
I like some actors but think many of their films are pants.
Likewise I like some films but don't particularly rate the star of the film.
This is BEST ACTOR.
To me the best actor is head and shoulders above his nearest competitor.
There is 'clear. blue water' separating him from the rest of the crowd.
In one of his films his co-star was Ciaran Hinds (a fantastic actor)
but Ciaran was barely noticeable next to the supernatural ability of my favourite actor.
I am, of course, referring to
DANIEL DAY-LEWIS.
His performance in GANGS OF NEW YORK turned a mediocre movie
into a movie worth watching
(and DVDs are good for fast forwarding through the ridiculous spectacle of Leo DiCaprio as a 1800's street fighter.
Pretty boy Leo couldn't pull off that role!).
THERE WILL BE BLOOD
half the film is men drilling for oil
only D D Lewis could make this interesting.
and LINCOLN
Just an absolutely amazing tour de force of talent.
I'd like to see him play Caligula or Nero
William the Conqueror or Richard the Lionheart.
