Indoor 150 hps cabinet grow (1st grow)

Hey everyone Decided to share a little bit of what ive been doing and gonna try and keep this post updated w/ my progress. This is my first grow so I'm still learning a lot. I'm gonna grow 2 plants in my box I made w/ some spare wood scraps. The box is about 1.5'x2.5' and about 3' tall. using Coco Coir (canna brand) on my first plant I did not add any perlite in the future I probabbly will It seems like the coco w/o the perlite seems to sink a lot when I water it. The plant that has sprouted is from a bag of some pretty KB so maybe it will be decent. The unsprouted pot (planted later) is a freebe automatic I got and it seemed real scrawny so idk if it will take off. Im using the General Hydro flora series (using rezdogs formula) You may be able to tell but at first I gave her waaay too much nutes and the lower leaves have some nute burn. I think I have a better understanding on how much I can give my plant. I have been ph'ing my water to right at 6 using some of my soft well water and RO on diff ocasions. The RO water seemed to be better but the plant was more develpod so idk if that really means anything.

Hey guys new update. Tried to mainline didn't see my cat walk in and basically jumped on me right when I was cutting so I had to cut way more than I wanted to. Am i still ok or is the plant done? I tried to put the cutting in rockwool. (pic is a few minuts after) What do u guys thin?

I'm sorry to say but that plant is toast. Start over and learn from your errors, like never let your cat next to your grow. I would not touch a plant until a decent root system has developed, so easy on the scissors, and you really don't need perlite in coco, as the drainage is good enough unless you saturate the shit out of it. Light watering is all you need. If your water is good, and you seem to have figured this out by testing which shows you are on the ball, fuck RO. PH is critical though in coco (which I hate personally) so keep your eye on that. The color of your leaves also show an imbalance in nitrogen, which you have figured out seemingly already. OK guys Semi update... The plant I cut too much off of is still alive and even though it only has 1 leaf it looks healthy. Im going to wait a few more days to see if she continues growing before I pull her. The freebee auto has sprouted after 3 days =)

bummer on the mishap. That little girl was a little early to mainline. Are you using female seeds?

The first seed is not feminized. The auto (lil sprout) is fem. Yea i'm gonna wait for her to truly thicken up before I try to mainline again. For the auto plant i'm prob just gonna top her one time and let it roll.

Hey guys So update on the plant I hella topped...We have new growth! I'm not sure how its gonna grow but i'm gonna keep her around b/c I'm curious how it is gonna grow from here. Who knows maybe this will be a new way of topping LOL (not rly)

Added some coco/perlite to the pot last night to bring it up higher with the plant. The growth is coming along well for how far she has to go.

The seedling looking well for 3 days. Also found out the type of seed the auto was Auto +Speed by Sweet Seeds.

More Pics. The sprout doesn't seem to be growing very fast I just gave her the first taste of nutes (3ml GH Micro/4.5ML Bloom). I think the reason (or one of them) growth is so slow is because I planted this girl straight into a 3g pot. For any new growers out there who read this Im pretty sure ill never start a plant off in a 3g pot again. I just takes too long for the root system to get going. Ive been feeding at 5.85-6 ph (its coming out to about 700 ppm on NaCl scale which I think to go to ppm its [700x2]/1000=1.4 EC) The runoff is showing about 200 ppm does that mean the nutes are being well used or should I add more Ive been pretty conseravative with the watering and nutes.

Hey guys plants are moving along. Large plants new leaves seem to be real light maybe even a bit yellow but they seem to darken up before too long. I wonder if I should buy some cal/mag I've read a lot of different opinions on it and i'm gonna try it without for now. Here are a few pics.

Does any1 have an idea about how yellow the new growth is? Is this normal, other than the light color the plant seems healthy.

Well ive run into some problems. I think they might be heat issues but im not sure. The leaves on my larger plant are cupping during the day and my smaller plant is having serious issues. The small plants fan leaves cupped straight down and the tips turned dark brown. I cut the tips off the leaves and while the plant is still growing some extreme downward cupping is happening. Could this possibly be from too much light? The temps are deff high going as high as 93 the other day during the heat. Ill be buying an ac unit for the room next paycheck.

Hey bro..

Since no one else is chiming in, let me say what I think:

First coco/perlite for a first grow, shouldn't happen. You gotta learn the intracices of growing before moving to a medium where you have to control everything.

Second, those temps are way too hot and you are frying the plants. They likely aren't able to have solid root growth because of the temperatures. At this stage they should get no hotter than 75 for best development.

I didn't see if you had it, but some vents with fans circulating air would also help significantly.

Go get som Fox Farm Ocean Forest and try new beans from seed. Coco is a more advanced method of growing you should try after you have gotten your first tries to where you want them.

lowryder is right on point.
-too hot
-need circulation
-coco/perlite is a SOIL-LESS medium, that is why you're going Nitrogen def. and yellowing
-even Miracle grow soil for a first timer is better than coco/perlite
-plus you probably stunted the hell out of that "main-line" attempt, or worse shocked it into a male,

And if you are using non-fem seeds there are a few things to keep in mind that INCREASE the chances of forcing a male

-temps higher than 85 during seedling stage
-primarily RED spectrum lighting (150 HPS)
-Low humidity
-irregular light cycles
-removing too much foliage (more than 1/2) during the first 4-5 weeks of a seedlings life
-stagnant air

IMO scrap it and start over once you can get things dialed in.... it will take less time in the long run to cut your losses right now and start fresh. Stay here @ RIU and I'm positive everyone can help you learn how to make your garden green!

Thanks for the replies. Im working on getting the temps under control (got a window unit) and im prob gonna start a new seed since I have space for a 3rd plant I may try soil. Thanks

Yea I'm gonna see if I can find the Ft soil around here and I'll give it a try. Just a couple things about your points though I do have good airflow it may have been hot but it was lots of hot fresh air Lol . What do you mean by irregular light cycles? I've been running 20-4 and recently switched to lights off from 1-5(to also help with heat)
