Hi fellow growers,

I'm new to all this so have been reading as i go unfortunately i decided to plant my seeds before reading up, they have been in the green house for the last month and a half and have grown to roughly a foot high.

So last weekend decided to build a plywood encloser 6 foot high by 4 foot by 4 foot in my cellar and lined with space blanket, bought a shower extractor fan and a circulating fan, then ducting to fresh air and installed the 400watt MH light in.

I have made my own filter (cheaply) but its working so far i also copied somebody's carbon dioxide creating bottle thing.

I put my plants in this Sunday gone and already they seem a much darker green, I am worried tho that they are a bit leggy compared to a lot of photo's I've seen on here but that might be down to the type of strain?

So the Light timer is on 14 Hours a day at the mo (i don't want too big a of an electric bill so opted for less than the 18 hours + I've seen recommended) They have grown about 40mm's in 2 days which I'm happy with, my temp gauge is playing up but i think its around 75 - 85 in there(i did burn a couple of leaves on the tallest plant but have moved the light up and it seems to be surviving).

I'm contemplating giving them the 36 hours dark (start flowering) treatment this weekend, is it too soon? I will then go to 12 hours light a day but with the same light as i cannot afford another I'm afraid :(

Pics posted below, Please let me know your thoughts, tips and anything you feel relevant?

Right finally i can preform the simple task of uploading a picture stoned!

Ok so that was last week, I have got a new temp gauge now and i'm shocked and horrified to say it was 100 plus in there, how they have survived i'll never know but they have ... 5 days of it :?

Week 2 under the light pics below i have made some changes to the air flow and got the temp down to 85 with door shut and 78 with a slight opening. Started to add Tomato feed, a potash grow formula and some molasses at about a 1/4th of the recommend.

They're beginning to show more growth on them measly stems. I'm waiting another week or so before i put into flower as they are about 14.5" and i think about 18" would be better?

Oh and i've started upping the light slowly to 16 hours and counting.

Ok on your second grow when you transplant bury them up to the first set of real leaves, look at the grow faqs and check out toping pruning and fiming. I would not tie down those at all you will have very nice cola's but do be ready to use some sticks to hold them up. Good First Grow so far Keep it up.

Do you know if there female or male? You can pre sex them just look at the 7-8 node up and look behind the stipule.

Cheers, i was thinking no topping or FIM'ing on this grow (because i know very little) but thought tying down would have a positive affect on the grow, will it not?

When should i put in to flower?

40 Views, 1 reply! Its no wonder I'm doing things wrong

So further reading seems to indicate its far too late to be bending branches, will it do any harm or should i release them?

Yes release them there is no need to tie them down, makes no sense being you get plenty of light in there, also you see how your branches go straight across, well they are not ready for flowering until they go asymetrical.
I top if I veg more than 20 inches and I fim from 8 inches once then maybe again 2 weeks before flowering if I need the lower branches to catch up.

If you are going to do a 2nd grow grab a Growers Bible and study it, then treat each plant diff, until you see what works for you.

Your grow is doing fine, just wait until the branches are uneven to flower. And the longer you wait the bigger the buds.

Devil, my pots are 3 gallon square white pots holes on bottom and bottom sides, if I where have them in veg longer than 3 months then I would put them in 5 gallon. Fox Farm Ocean Forest is the medium I use with some pearlite mixed in. High Times just named it #1 soil.

they seem to be doing much better these last few days, quite a lot of new growth

if they double in size from start to the end of flower i've got about 5 inch(max) of growth left then i'll need to put into flower.

All that new growth will produce buds amigo, You can top then so all the bottom limbs will grow even with top. That would be good.

was wondering about topping so ive topped 5 out of the 10 to see what difference this will bring to the yield, i topped the 5 tallest plants which maybe an error as i've read that the tallest plants are normally males?? anyway too late now!

Here are some bad close ups of what could be pre-flowers? the ones that are showing look like they could be male:cry: but early days so i won't chop them up quite yet.

Growth wise it's really picking up with about 4" new growth in a week.
