first grow, need advice

hi guys I have been reading this forum for months finally joined I have some pics of the plant I was given, I dont know what strain it is. I got the clone when it was 3weeks old its now about 6 weeks that it has been growing. when I got it it had spidermites, nute burns and a bunch of twisted leafs that died but after I transferd it from the soil it was in to a home made bubble tub(thanks to all the guides on here) and a switch gh nutes its started growing very quickly. I have killed all the mites using pest out and neem oil. all the new growth looks great but the very tips of the leafs are pointing down and I dont know why. The rest of the leaves are pointing up at the light.

5 gallon DWC with 2 air stones
GH nutes(floramicro, maxigrow maxibloom(1tsp per gallon)
ph kept at 5.6
12/12 light
1-105w CFL, 1 42w
I dont have any way of checking the ppm or the humidity but its growing quick, the burnt leaves in the pics where there when I got the plant.


oh and the floramicro made some of my roots turn purple, is this normal?

you need a ppm meter this is probably the most important piece of equipment along with a pH meter. If the leaves are burning then top of the Rez with pH'd water, as the water level drops the ppm's rise.

a ppm meter and a Ph meter are pretty key...

every new set of fan leaves should be larger than the previous set.. It appears that you have some sort of LOCK up or stunting....

your roots look fabulous...

what city are you in?

Most places need at least a LITTLE bit of pH down (or vinegar in the water)
Usually AT least 1-6 drop per half gallon...

all my newer leaves are bigger that of the younger ones, as for the ph I adjust the water before adding and check the water 2 times a day.
As for the ppm meter I guess I will have to get one tomorrow can you get cheap test kits or do you have to buy a meter?

It would be best if you got an electronic one, they will be more accurate.

It's fine if the roots are dyed from the nutrients, as long as they aren't dark brown and unhealthy.

I have a wide range cheap liquid ph test kit. I always have one or 2 of these around... I trust them more then a digital meter, and make a great back up if something goes wrong with your meter.

You will still have to get a meter for ppm

Hi that plants looks good man. That "stretching" is normal for the light cycle. When you cut the light down to 12/12 they "stretch" up to try to get more light. Also are you flowering with the same bulbs that you vegged with? Whats The color temp? You definately want some warm (2700k) bulbs for flowering. Good luck!

wow your pant looked alot like mine. I vegged it with just the 105w(6500k) I added the warm 42w and plan on gettin 3 more when I have the cash

how many tsp of each nutes should I use per gallon? I'm using floramicro, maxigrow and maxibloom.

well I mixed it up 1/2 tsp per gallon micro, 1tsp per gallon grow and 1-1/8 tsp p/g bloom

make that 254 real watts I found a 23w and stuck it on the back side of the plant
what would you guys say? indica or indica/sativa

Yes, but I would wait until the last 2 weeks of flowering... also use good judgment when picking leaves to trim
