How much space are we talking? I'm running mine at 1400 ma and keeping the bare COB's 8 to 10 inches away.

Finishing up my first run with the COBs, just 2 cxa3070 3000K, 1 Z4 and 1 Z2.

Next run 3 AB 3000Ks and 18 red/blue stars. Might start a thread for that one here (RIU). I have threads on ICMAG for my grows.

8 to 10 inches at 1a with the reflectors would do real damage to the plants I think. 2' plant health is pretty good. At 3' I think I'm seeing the max light these plants can take before seeing adverse effects.

Still trying different combos. Haven't tried 400w with 3' of space between canopy. 360w at 3' high seems to be the most these plants can take. That's with my small co2 boost from an exhale bag and 80* temps

Ordered a par meter but still waiting on it. I'd assume it's 2000+ umoles at 1'....just guessing...

Probably obvious but just in case. Because I'm running so much watts of the ab bin the reflector performance is exaggerated a bit. At half the watts...2' would probably be the sweet spot instead of 3'

I'm running 3000k Z4's at 28 watts sq/ft,I'm going to get the sensor to take readings before running any reflectors. I don't need any more complications to deal with.
 
Well that's why I'm posting a lot of this stuff..

Not so much to say this is the right way to do it...more just to show this is what I'm doing and this is how it's working...without getting too excited from new shiny parts..lol

Low watts per square foot with no reflectors is the money shot right now no doubt :leaf:
 
Thinking out loud here, one of the things I like about the BM SPYDR is I can keep it within 3" of the canopy with zero bleaching

SEEMS like an important trade off, especially when limited in tent height

I actually see the spyder doing well in a rack system. Like a commercial sog or something. All the leds spaced evenly, making an even and consistent blanket of light.

The two approaches are on opposite ends of the spectrum. At 3" I could probably start a forest fire..lol

Turned my light up to 400w..canopy is full so may as well see what she can do. This thing is purring like a kitten right now..I don't know if the pk3 broke in or what but niiice temps.

This is what happens when they get within 2' of 400w..leaves start closing and protecting themselves. Time to grow some elite cannabis sativa

Alrighty then..day 14. cept' the middle one..she's only day 7.

Just my 2 favorite strains left. Culled all the moms to these final two...all my good selections over the years tossed to stay within my small legal limit. But they are the best I can get and should provide good eye candy. Bubba k and coco k.

Kinda pissed none of my mandala or next gen fem seeds popped. WTF...I swear their getting irradiated or something..lol

Took two reflectors off to get some light to the upper area, just the reflector adapter now. Mellowed the middle par hotspot down too as a bonus

I usually add a little bloombastic to every feeding. About 2 mil a gallon. I don't know what's in it, but it works better than koolbloom and guanos for me. Marketed as organic. Whether it is or not I'm a big time believer..

There is extra frost this time around. All the little things adding up I guess. Too much variables changed in this round to nail it to one thing.

I dunno...my coco has stretched under every light she's ever been under. The bubba is a little stockier than the last few times I grew her.

Good enough...I've still many spectrums to play with. Just another round to examine.

Actually can't wait till this is done. My two favorite strains and they are looking better than ever
