You can flush nutrients out of the leaves . Its called, "Reverse Foliar Feeding." "Reverse foliar feeding will leach nutrients from leaves" -Jorge Cervantes. The thing is, you can't flush a plant.

Really he wrote it exactly like that? What a horrible wording of his perception then. You cannot leach nutrients out of leaves. Essentially the same thing occurs, you lower the nutrients level you supply so it starts using its reserves. Nothing is "leached" in that situation. Media (soil, coco, rockwool) can be leached, plants can't.You can flush nutrients out of the leaves . Its called, "Reverse Foliar Feeding." my point also, the growing medium can be flushed to lower un-dissolved solids, and promote a healthier substrate, but not the actual plant.Really he wrote it exactly like that? first get rid of all those wasteful fan leaves
Please explain? I personally do not like to get rid of anything healthy unless it is obviously blocking major bud mass.
He is joking. Lmao.we come from different schools of training i'd say, but i'd leave those leaves. That's another debate to start...
I respect your different growing techniques, but i'd leave em.
I have the book sitting right in front of me. That is verbatim. Do you have a source stating that you can't flush nutrients out of leaves? I'd like to expand my perception of the matter.Really he wrote it exactly like that? What a horrible wording of his perception then. You cannot leach nutrients out of leaves. amen brotherFlushing thread.

ahh well that'd explain it, ya never can tell though, some people say some ridiculous stuff on this site...He is joking. Lmao.
If you seek him out Uncle Ben will expand your perception on this issueI have the book sitting right in front of me. That is verbatim. Do you have a source stating that you can't flush nutrients out of leaves? I'd like to expand my perception of the matter.
I won't bother him with trivial bs. I can't find any literature on it though. It's so easy to be misconstrued as a dick in these forums with the lack of tone and everything but that's not my intention - to be clear. If you seek him out Uncle Ben will expand your perception on this issue
Asking me for sources that disclaim your claim is already the classic shifting the burden of proof but in this case it's like asking me to show sources that specifically state a pig can't fly.Do you have a source stating that you can't flush nutrients out of leaves? You may have taken that too far. Hard to tell. To be clear, I never claimed anything. I was simply paraphrasing - verbatim. I own several books on marijuana botany and horticulture (just got the new Marijuana Evolution and Ethnobotany book ). I never said anywhere I was taking his book as an authoritative source either. He has been doing what he has been doing for far longer then you or I have and has met and worked with hundreds more people then you or I probably ever will. While some of his interpretations may be arbitrary - I do feel they are a valid starting point for further research. No bad feelings here man.Asking me for sources that disclaim your claim is already the classic shifting the burden of proof but in this case it's like asking me to show sources that specifically state a pig can't fly.
I'm disagreeing with the outcome, it's just poorly worded ("leaching") and obviously results in some confusion by some of his readers. You are mistaking Jorge's book as a definite and authoritative "source" on botany while in reality he uses authoritative sources and combined with his own experiences and the experience/knowledge from others and combines that into an MJ grow guide most growers can understand. Sometimes that requires simplifying it to a point it is no longer entirely accurate but still fits its purpose. That dilemma is one of the challenges writing non-fiction. If you genuinely want to "expand your perception" read into what "leaching" means in the context of nutrients and what the process of foliar feeding entails and you'll understand why that isn't a great way to describe what goes on. (Or else watch the movie Envy and note the main question).
Bonus mind fuck: foliar feeding can reduce the amount of nutrients being leached.
WTF are you talking about??You took that too far. You realize that right? Right?
Another idiot reflecting his insecurities... No fucktard, the only one responding hot-headed is you. If you think you and your ignorance affects me emotionally you are again merely reflecting...so to claim that I have a limited perspective of cannabis botany is ignorant and clearly a hot headed remark
How is that even relevant? I wasn't comparing myself to Jorge...He has been doing what he has been doing for far longer then you or I have and has met and worked with hundreds more people then you or I probably ever will.
Are you retarded? Again, asking me for sources that disclaim your claim is already the classic shifting the burden of proof but in this case it's like asking me to show sources that specifically state a pig can't fly. And again, if you genuinely want to "expand your perception" read into what "leaching" means in the context of nutrients and what the process of foliar feeding entails and you'll understand why that isn't a great way to describe what goes on. THAT upset you and you call me hot headed? Can I have that source please.
Uh.... that's my line...I didn't say I disagreed with you anywhere man .
You sound insane right now. Take a breath. Responding to a 10 word sentence with three paragraphs comes across as a little ... extensive. You came across a little neurotic is all and to be honest it caught me off guard.WTF are you talking about??

That's why authors like Jorge simplify it for their readers, clearly 3 paragraphs of which 2 are one sentence and one is a joke is too "extensive" for some people... else it's considered "neurotic"Responding to a 10 word sentence with three paragraphs comes across as a little ... extensive.
Again, you are reflecting your own emotions onto a total stranger on the internet. Just because my on-topic words answering your question to me made your insecure little self butt hurt (and reply like a hot headed nut job, the reply you edited by now... pussy) doesn't mean your silly words have that same effect on me. Ah, I need to add a wiki entry, The Butthurt Fallacy. You sound insane right now. Take a breath.
I guess it would be salt in your wounds to tell you my IQ. I'm used to getting shit from people who can't answer a simple question when confronted. In your case, instead, writing way too much about nothing. I edited it immediately after posting. Something I do often and I'm sure is a common practice among posters. I didn't expect you to be there, watching the thread - like a crazy person I might add - and grabbing my quote within seconds. You're desperate to win this, I can see that but all you have to throw are insults. I want facts. Oh yea, Happy Birthday BTW, I'm actually enjoying this. I can tell that you're literate. Not very common around here. That's why authors like Jorge simplify it for their readers, clearly 3 paragraphs of which 2 are one sentence and one is a joke is too "extensive" for some people... else it's considered "neurotic"
