If we weren't stopped from doing so, by those with the means to control most of us, we would almost certainly be capable of living much, much longer, and would not become decrepit so "soon." But still... there is no point to the "lesson," if it just gets deleted in the end.
If you reason it out far enough, the idea of a "God," is an interesting concept; the problem is when fanatics are Taught to take it too far, and insist their unsubstantiated belief is "true," and then impose often detrimental and injurious conditions upon others, in the name of an unsubstantiated and unjustifiable belief.
Some people get hung up on the "if life is finite, then it's meaningless and therefore worthless" angle... but on the contrary, the scarcity principle makes life immeasurably priceless. If we had forever, we'd have forever to "get over it," when anyone does anything harmful to us. But we don't. Which is why it's so important to minimize and prevent unnecessary problems; we only have a short time to get whatever we can get out of this singular existence, in the absence of any evidence that there would ever be another.
I can't "hate" "God," unless a God exists and intends to punish us for irrational reasons. I can only hate the way certain humans have used the idea of a God, to exploit and manipulate others.
And who knows? Maybe there really is "something," albeit nothing like what is described by any of the holy books (since every one of them both constantly contradicts themselves, and are all based on previously existing folklore and mythology).
Don't waste your energy hating an idea; focus on dismantling the machinations of those who use that idea to exploit others.
Never stop honing your capacity for discerning Truth, and never stop expressing it. Speak the Truth when and where possible, with the possible exception of instances where self-preservation becomes paramount, in conflict with truth... and maybe then even still.
