Have a few grows with them i am still slightly tweaking the spectrum by using top bin cree 450,480,630,660 and am using a built in timer that after 12 hours it automatically kicks on a string of 730nm for a lights out using a simple IC timer. Of course this is on a separate switch so incase you are running veg or simply just don't want the 730 on.

I have pics of it but would rather not put them on a open forum until I'm 100% sure this is the style and setup I'm going with.

what kind of specs and details would you like to know?

these are also able to be slide back and fourth on the rail. So if you say have a 6' long room but are only using 3ft of it you can slide the cobs down to cover just the 3ft area and to concentrate them more.

any of "wants" you guys can think of i might add into my design. I have a few more weeks to finalize everything before I start producing them. Of course I do have prototypes laying around and a few of most likely will be the model for sale that I gave away for feedback and such.

hard to give any wants or input. I really don't know what your desiging. . I initially thought you were talking about a simple rail with a few cob units. now your talking about adding some R/B, far red and timers so I guess its more than a cob unit ?

Maybe show some of your prototypes as a strictly work in progress ?

It is a rail with cobs sliding on that rail. But attached to the rail is anywhere a few stars about 4 stars for every 2 feet. The stars main purpose is to add the 730nm, but since these will only be on for 1% of the time i can have another led mounted to the same star say a red or blue that will be on the other 99% of the time. I'll look for some pics of a more recent model.

Solis Tek is releasing their line of cobs this fall. They are super expensive. They want me to test it. I doubt it will even stand up to the cree cxa's. There are several other companies that already have cobs in the works. You need to do something that sets yours apart from the others. An improvement on whats already available for diy-ers. Have a good price and full warranty that can compete with already established reputable led companies. To even turn a profit you are going to have to buy 1000 cobs minimum to start. Just to get that price break. That's $25,000 just for cobs. Plus all the other parts.
Congrats on the hook up.

With the cool white and warm white cob as the primary lighting, adding a star unit with a little bit of UVA and 660 deep red with a separate channel of 730 is a great idea.

I'm playing around with galv. fence post/ rail for my cabinet project. It started with visions of dual rails with cobs to slide around into position, rails like 8-10' long!! ... (with the right profile heatsink it is simple to build)... but then scaled down to a more realistic (less illegal) setup for myself:

It will be some time testing, alum profile would be ideal but i didn't find one (and it's $+ in larger profiles) and some alum tape should work if corrosion is a drama.. Anyhow, happy to give any help iv'e gathered & benefited from so far on rails.. No charge :p:peace:

PS, Solar too, not cheap but looking possible for a small grow.

I was running some prototypes similar to that were the "hestsink" would slide threw a chanel with zero wires. Each side of the chanel was + or - the inside only and the heatsink had a copper plate that was gold plated touching it so you could slide them anywhere or move to another setup... we moved on and took some good designs from the proto.

i like your build btw.

Panels are cheap enuf, batteries not so much.
PG, that sounds interesting, so the rail itself was live?? can't visualize, love to see some pics of what you have come up with.

One of the hardest parts believe it or not was trying to find a driver with such a large gap between min and max vf. We were not satisfied and ended up building our own driver. So it would still work if it had only one cob or four cobs.
