600 MH or 1,000 HPS ?

I just got a 600w MH Blue Eye by Hortilux that I plan to use for veg, I'm currently flowering under the 1,000w Hortilux Eye HPS.

I was looking at the spectrum graph on both packages, and the one for the Blue Eye is much fuller than the HPS. I also noticed (one reason for the purchase), that the temps are a lot cooler using the MH than the 600 HPS that it replaced. It's also a lot better color in the growroom, much more natural.

The important question is, which is going to give stronger yields? Will the 600 Blue Eye grow better flowers than the thowie?

If so, I'd like to dump the HPS, and run two Blue Eye 600 MH lamps instead.

MH yield more potent weed but it's a little less productive watt for watt than HPS but with 1200w instead 1000w you don't need no worries...

My avatar which probably had the most dense cola I've ever grown was exposed to a regular Osram Sylvania HPS lamp from start to finish.

I have seen some people report on several occasions that have started flower with HPS and finished flower with MH and hey noticed more trich production when finished with MH and it was done on same strain

From a grower: "The consensus among us is that HPS lamps produce more weight, but the stoniest, longest-lasting high comes from metal halide lamps."

Homie don't buy into this "consensus" stuff. :)

It's my understanding that the glass shield on MH blocks UV. HIs main point is the relationship of THC to CBD relative to latitude. Here's one study:

What are Halide and Mercury Vapor Light Bulbs?
Metal halide and mercury vapor bulbs are bright, long-lasting sources of light, most often used to light streets, gyms, sports arenas, banks, and stores. The bulbs have an inner quartz tube, containing the mercury vapor discharge, enclosed by an outer glass bulb that filters out harmful short-wavelength UV radiation. http://www.fda.gov/Radiation-EmittingProducts/RadiationSafety/AlertsandNotices/ucm116540.htm

very Interesting...
I just find this page : http://www.herb.com/trichome.html it's about the role played by UVB radiance in the process that makes cannabis THC

I think what they are talking about is the sheer fact that HPS are more efficient at producing a higher lumen output, per watt than the MH, i personally use a 600w hps and a 600w MH, I do NOT use the glass shield on my reflector, I keep it open. I know you like lab results and such, but I can only tell you the same strains that I've been growing for years do the BEST under a 2/1 ratio of hps wattage to MH, meaning ideally I like two 600w hps, and a 600 w MH in the middle, right now I can only do 1200 watts so I have a 1/1 ratio. Certain strains I've noticed do a lot better under the MH, and conversely others do better under JUST the HPS, weird how that is, but the jack herer I have LOVES the MH, I can visibly see bigger glands on the plant, and they sparkle differently, to the naked eye. Some of my other strains don't show that much of a difference, I have noticed a better high though.

what brand do you run for a 600 mh? Im thinkin of just using a MH for my last 2 weeks finish out potent.
