I would keep searching, ive seen some very nice setups for less than 400 all said and done.. By the way i think tha cool tube is over rated i removed mine a while back and im getting a lot more coverage from my HPS now and controlling the temps are not as hard as i thought.. I'll check around for you at some of my lil spots to see if i can help out..Is 600 you only weapon of choice or are you flexalbe up or down? Peace

Get a bigger hood to help spread the light out more. i like the Magnum XXXL hood, I have one stuffed into a 4x4 tent, it barley fits but does a good job lighting the whole footprint of the tent.....MY2 JR

Im setting up a 3 x1000 grow now and settled on the Quantum 400/600/1000 switchable ballasts, which might come in handy for you in the future if you change things up. My buddy runs the Melon-head reflectors and swears by them so im going with those, Ive seen his warehouse :-) Good luck..

Dont knock it till you try it lol i have the same set up from this company only mine is the 400 watt MH/HPS with everything included..total price from them to me including shipping was 176.00 and it has done nothing but produce for me great buy...Peace

I don't know much about the one your asking about but if your looking for a cheap light this works pretty damn good and it's a lot cheaper

I've have some of these these and some apollos in my veg room for coming up on two years without any problems. The Apollo bulbs suck so I replaced them with ipower bulbs.

I don't use cheap stuff in my flower room so I can't say how well they bud but if they flower like they veg you should be ok.

as for the ballast cheap digitals may cause you unwanted attention. A lot of them have high rfi which is detectable by you know who.

I forgot to ask what do you recommend as well what kit/set up do you use or one that you think is a great product overall fair - expensive

I use pretty basic equipment. I don't do cool tubes, I use adjust -A- wing reflectors with lumatek ballasts, all 600 watters. That's in my flower room. I have 6 of them in a 10x8 room with 24 flowering at any given time. It's a perpetual grow. In my veg room I have two 600's and two 400's, a 400 and a 600 of each brand, ipower and Apollo. I also have a "just for me" tent with a lumatek 600 and my wife has a tent with a lumatek 600. And I use two to grow autos with every summer just for fun. I caught a good deal buying a ten pack of em.


I have heard stories of cheap digital ballasts causing RF interference but I have the 4 cheap ballasts mounted about 5 feet away from a tv with a cable box and a little stereo and PERSONALLY I haven't had the slightest bit of interference and neither has my neighbors. The newer models are "supposed" to be RF interference safe. IDK maybe I'm lucky.
