Ph of water out of the tap

Recently the ph of my tap water has changed (usually its around 7.0-8.0 now its between 6-6.5) is this something to be alarmed about? at first i thought that my ph meter was broken (ecotester ph1 tester) but i used the calibrating fluid that i bought and it matched exactly (fluid is 7.0 ph meter said it was 7.0) so i'm guessing that my ph meter isn't broken so i'm curious if anybody else has experienced this

must be were ur water comes from or u have some bad pipes shit falling into the water from the ground messing with it or ur ph meter is fucked

My tap water pH is always the same at 8.5 always. I think it might be due to miss-calibration or a fucked meter as stated above.

but if it was the meter would it still say 7.0 in the calibration fluid? feels weird that it would work for 1 thing but not for another

well if it comes from a lake yes it would prob jump up and down from rain shit getting washed into old jo dumping his old meth chems alot could play with the ph in a lake for sure

Collect rain water or go buy Revers osmosis water then you know the water is sorted, in a hydro setup my plants like RO water alot more than they do any other water.

When i say i get it from a lake i get it from clear lake (oregon) i use the water from my hose outside i let it sit for 48 hours before i use it, my main question here is if my ph meter reads the ph calibration solotion 7.0 @ 7.0 is there a chance it will read the water incorrectly?

yes, those meters always fuck around. Even with proper buffer fluid. I buy a new pH meter every grow, I do buy the cheap ones though.

yea the ph meter i'm using is a ecotestr 1 from oakton(i think thats the brand) still looking for answers on this i would buy a new pen each grow but to be honest thats like 60$ i really don't feel i need to spend

use pH strips then, they work just as well.

Well and lake water will change, mine does. My plants dont like my lake water, i use the well water 30' feet away and they do much better. Perhaps its the acid rain from up north in Canada thats screwing the water up

idk i live on the coast in oregon so i'm not sure that would affect me, the only reason i post this is because i've only been growing about a year and haven't experienced this before, this could be me overeacting but we will see i bought a new ph meter just to be on the safe side

If you receive a water bill you should be able to call and ask why the ph changed. (You could use a cover story such as being an aquarium enthusiast.). I don't think it's anything to worry about. My water's ph rises as it's exposed to air. It's not a constant.

right also i am 100% legal so i'm not really worried about raising suspicion i just wanted to know if i should be worried my ph pen is not working correctly
