So I had started a thread and planned to continue it with updates but we all know how that can go sometimes, life gets busy so hear we go.
My setup for this grow was a 2'x3'x5' tent, 4" 200cfm fan/filter combo, and a 600watt digital MH/HPS ballast in a 6" cooltube. I am doing seven Kush clones and one Cheese clone. They started flowering at a week or two old in 3L pots at maybe 8-10in tall.
I either faced heat damage or light damage at first as you can imagine. Raised the light and kept it no lower then about 12" away from the canopy. I then ended up adding a 100cfm duct fan for fresh cold winter intake ducted to my window. Had to fiddle around with it for a bit then ended up bringing it up into the grow space to blow directly across the canopy. This has been working pretty good, when the light is on the temp doesnt get any higher then 78 and is usually stable around 70-75 F. I had to purchase two 4" vacuum ports that have doors on them to open and close. This allowed me to open and close the cold air intake as I please, needed to close it when the light was off so it didnt get too cold (even though the fan would be on the same timer as the light, the exhaust fan would still draw in cold air through the open intake ducting). This was a bit of a pain because I setup my lighting schedule 3pm to 3am, I thought we were paying hydro so I wanted the light off at peak hours. So I stay up till 3am every night to open the cold air port when the light comes on. Turns out we only pay water not that my method probably made a huge difference on the bill if we did pay hydro, but Im switching that up for my next grow so I don't have to tend to things at awkward hours anymore haha.
All in all, I learnt a couple little things. This was my first whole tent setup kinda grow thing with a fan/filter/cooltube. Had a 4x4 tent in the past with a 400watt and dome reflector but never had any temp issues and didnt have any concern for smell so. I should have either stuck my 400watt in the cooltube (might still have been too warm in the tent, small tent) or got a bigger fan/filter combo, would have made my life a lot easier lol. Our next grow we are flowering our mothers in a 5x5 with either a 1000watt or a 600watt in the cooltube, so excited!!! That will get going in about 4 weeks here.
SO.. the bitches have started their 7th week of flower on Monday lol. I have read on greenhouse seeds website specifically with their White Widow seeds that they have heard some growers turn down their flowering schedule from 12/12 to 8/16 for the remaining 2 weeks of flower, that it really brings out the trichs.. least for the WW. I have asked about this on rollitup but no one replied. I have heard of inducing 24-48hours of darkness before chopping but... anyways.. I decided to give it a shot and turned it down to 10 hours on and 14 hours off. So technically that is 28 hours extra of darkness till chop prolonged over 2 weeks. I flushed them all yesterday with Final Flush. The only issue I see at this time is my one Cheese clone. It is from greenhouse seeds and on the website they say 8-10 weeks flower. The hairs have JUST showed a touch of aging/ambering so I'd say 10 weeks on this pheno.
