Please answer this question honestly..........why would you want an axe <<<<< a fucking axe .lololol.

priceless
Mine's for carving shit. You know, arty crafty woodworky sort of stuff.

I have other axes for log splitting, cutting kindling etc. Useful to me, as we don't have central heating. Maybe not so much use to yourself though.

Learn to sharpen that thing. Nothing pisses me off more than a dull piece of steel.
I bought a whet stone from the same company. It's got a course side and a smooth one. You can use it dry or let it sit in a little water so you get a slurry when you use it.

Promise I'll keep it keen, Baldrick. No dull steel here.

Kewl. The Swedes make excellent steel. Germans and certain Englishmen too. Now the Japos make some fine stuff too. I have also seen a lot of Euro companies teaching the Chinese how to make fine cutting steels lately. But nothing compares to finely crafted instruments.

Whatcha been carving? Gnomes?

Three words.

Japanese Water Stones. Shiver

They are amazing. I bought a set about twenty years ago that should solve my sharpening needs for the rest of my life. But in the kitchen, I use ceramic rods. Cheap, quick and very effective.

Jap steel is a real thing isn't it? I've used a couple of small carving axes some time ago. Really nice, tactile items
Just nice to hold, you know?

I haven't really had a chance to do a lot or carving, a couple of mushrooms, nothing complicated. Hopefully I'll be able to get stuck into it one day. I'd like to build a pole lathe too.

Why is there never enough time?

I used to carve birds. But 90% of the work was detail and painting. Got old fast and not very butch. Enjoyed it tho. Should have taken it up now rather than thirty years ago.

I went to school in North London near Whetstone. I never knew it was an object?!

I have nice set of carving chisels, I forget the name on them one handle, interchangeable blades. One day....one day....me the axe and the chisels will sit down and produce something lovely. Maybe a bird. But a butch one, like an eagle or vulture.
