Executive Order 6102ex post facto laws are forbidden by the constitution. Precious metals have never been illegal to own.
That didn't make owning gold or silver illegal, it made the HOARDING of gold and silver illegal. You could still own up to 5 ounces of bullion and any amount of US gold eagles ( Amongst many other gold coins) you cared to want. Millions of them if you had them, it was completely legal.Executive Order 6102
what if I wanted 6 ounces of bullions ??? and could you cite that "any amount of US gold eagles ( Amongst many other gold coins) Millions of them if you had them, it was completely legal"That didn't make owning gold or silver illegal, it made the HOARDING of gold and silver illegal. So you aren't arguing that gold and silver were illegal anymore?what if I wanted 6 ounces of bullions ??? and could you cite that "any amount of US gold eagles ( Amongst many other gold coins) Millions of them if you had them, it was completely legal"

is that wiki ???(a) Such amount of gold as may be required for legitimate and customary use in industry, profession or art within a reasonable time, including gold prior to refining and stocks of gold in reasonable amounts for the usual trade requirements of owners mining and refining such gold.
(b) Gold coin and gold certificates in an amount not exceeding in the aggregate $100 belonging to any one person; and gold coins having a recognized special value to collectors of rare and unusual coins.

(d) Gold coin and bullion licensed for other proper transactions (not involving hoarding) including gold coin and bullion imported for reexport or held pending action on applications for export licenses.
That came to mean ANY pre 1933 gold and silver coin.
ok read it some where other than wiki. Question what if you wanted 6 ounces of bullion and would not a million coins be hoarding. Seem like the law is a trapRead it and go cry to someone.
If you really wanted 6 ounces of bullion, I won't tell if you won't.ok read it some where other than wiki. Question what if you wanted 6 ounces of bullion and would not a million coins be hoarding. Seem like the law is a trap
but was it illegal to have 6 ounces of bullion. I think that was a yes or no questionIf you really wanted 6 ounces of bullion, I won't tell if you won't.
My Grandfather never turned in his gold. He lived to 98 years and died very wealthy.
6 million US gold eagles dates 1932 would be perfectly legal for you to possess. If you had 6 million 1934 canadian gold coins, you need to turn those in, only coins with numismatic value (which would be every coin prior to the order) were exempt.
Not many people had even a single gold coin, silver was much more common. Most people didn't turn in anything. Although people who kept their PM's in safe deposit boxes had them taken, but they were of course reimbursed.
Yep, it was considered HOARDING if you had that much, but the gold itself was never and has never been illegal. Like you claimed.but was it illegal to have 6 ounces of bullion. I think that was a yes or no question
so it was illegal ...it was just according to how muchYep, it was .
Gold nor silver were ever illegal, but hoarding it was. You should actually read the executive order you cited, it clearly states that HOARDING is illegal, not gold nor silver.so it was illegal ...it was just according to how much
Thanks

You can deny this all you want, but you'll be wrong every time.
