About to get smacked a few times but I use a 70/30 mix of MG Moisture Control (70) and MG Seedling Start (30) through all plant stages and I've never had an issue *hides*. A lot of people say MG runs hot and has bugs but with that mix I never had a problem.

MG might be the cheapest you can find.

I'm going to preface my response with "cheap". Grab a shovel and start digging. If you ask for best soil you will get a thousand different responses, which isn't gunna help you. Just grab some dirt from somewhere and plant that thing. Amend it with whatever you like or nothing. Good luck

I second the Kellogg's Patio Plus. It has a little too much bark in it, but also plenty of the same additives/beneficials FFOF has.

I'm saying tho I'm trying to set up a 40-50 plant grow with 24 plants in 5 gallon pots and the rest in ether nursery or 1 gallon pots to veg in. That's about 200 gallons of soil, right? That can be pretty expensive I'm assuming.

I mix 50-60% ProMix HP with 20-25% Kellogg Patio Plus and 20-25% perlite. I add 1-1/2 to 2 Tbsp/gal fine/powdered dolomite.

You can find a less expensive peat product at Lowes. Mix some Xtreme Mycos into the soil and you'll have about the same thing as using Promix. (Maybe go a little higher with dolomite because ProMix has a small amount while the cheap stuff doesn't.).

No it doesnt work great, you will end up with mites, weeds and gnats etc.
Dont use anything 'cheap' when growing marijuana. If you want to get this right use medium made for growing dope like this stuff i use $40 a bag.No mixing no guessing ,no ph adjustment ,green leaves till the end ,fast veg .Easy .to use with canna terra nutes. Very simple and works brilliantly.

For "store bought" I would reccomend Kellogg's Patio plus. But for the best and the cheapest I would say to mix your own - there are a million good recipes out there.

Mix up a coco loco type mix by hand? I don't know what %s but coco /peat/perlite/earthworm castings and diferent bat guanos for veg and flower. They make a kit with like 3 or 4 different guanos and I am thinking of trying it myself.

would i need to use any fertiliser or perlite etc etc while im growing my plant?
