@FrozenChozen was trying to get people together to order a 10 pack of those from XP lighting and it would've came to about $50 each but I haven't heard anything in a while, we had about 6 people interested I think. At this point I may even buy 2 if it'll help seal the deal sooner.

observe
. im going to take a pic of the 1 stardawg that is cracked, and has the longest tap root, i am going to sow it in the ground tap root buried but seedling in hull above ground and take a pic of that. i said it earlier in the thread, when germing in a paper towel i let the whole seedling come out. no one said anything so i dont want to do it and magicly be dq'd
fc isnt a fan of me
so lets let him decide on this little grey area.
im sure im not the only one to ever germ like this.
@FrozenChozen
I'm pretty sure your way over thinking things. If I understand what your trying to say, you germinate in a wet paper towel until the entire seedling is out of its shell to include the cotyledons. This would be considering having sprouted as i'd assume you would put it in the soil afterwards with the taproot below the soil line with the rest including the cotyledons above the soil.. that would be sprouted. I also highly doubt that Frozen does't like you just because of your germination methods.

I have a feeling he was saying that perhaps Frozen would have a problem with his germination methods (Or at least be more strict about them conforming to the standard) because he doesn't like him, not vice versa

Week 3 Update
This past week I topped #1(the left one) on Day 15 and started feeding very lightly (~60 ppm) with grow nutes. Been watering after 2 days of no water but they looked like they were about to start drooping before last watering so they may have to be watered every other day now. #1 has responded tremendously from being topped, wish I topped #2 but oh well, I can see why @provisionseeds recommends topping this strain. View attachment 3359792View attachment 3359793 The latter is from last night... you can see they just weren't as perky as they are now after being watered.

This week I'll up the nutes just a tad to see how they respond, could see preflowers this week too... Will post pics of those the second I do. Good luck to everyone who's trying to get some seedlings above ground in the last few days, you're going to need it... time is not on your side!
Topping is always recommanded on our strains but im sure they will show you lots of love even though you didn't top them!

I think with the germ/sprout dilemma we should just wait until there's actually a problem... Still 2 full days left, which for a cracked seed to sprout is ample time. If any still have a seed cap on we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. No need to make an issue out of something that might resolve itself

hey i may or may not be over thinking, im just trying to know. its been said many times thru the thread "when it breaks through the soil/medium.
i posted a pic today and last week of the germed seeds , and you never know, i didnt want to germ it that way and then be told im trying to cheat AGAIN.
my friend tried registering for riu on his phone and it kept telling him "email already in use" and he said he never signed up for riu, so i registered him on my computer and used my email.
fc had a post saying people were trying to cheat, so i hit him up right away to clear things up , offered him my facebook password so he could look at the dated conversations and he refused. im not lying, or was ever hiding anything, which is why i made this offer, and him refusing has left me in a gray area. i had little to loose, but everything to gain simply if he had took me up on 1 of many offers that could of proved everything i was telling him.
theres been plenty of people with questions regarding a rule, to avoid be disqualified, and right away. hes always answered right away, so why not me?

@glockdoc I've sprouted seeds like that before. Its a pain in the ass. I highly suggest not doing it. I'd put a germed seed below the surface or an ungermed seed. Also germing in a paper towel can rip the tap root.

lately all seedlings ive started in dirt either dont pop up and out, some may not remove the seed hull by themselves and i think most die off from damping off ..so i started doing it this way and ran into the tap root growing thru the towel.. killed a couple trying to separate, then realized if i cut around the towel leaving the roots in it, i could still plant it and tried and the all grew fine.
i germed all 5 so i cant germ any more. 3 got tap roots poking. ill throw the stardawg in the dirt.

If he has not said anything to your posting of pictures this week of how your germinating I would assume your fine. Germination is germinating, sprouting is sprouting, whatever your method is it does not change the fact that it is sprouted. There is no way to "cheat" germinating a seedling unless you simply plain lie about when it sprouted, post false pictures( such as pics that weren't taken of the seeds you actually sprouted etc.) There is no defined method in the rules that states you have to germinate in the soil, paper-towel etc. There have been quite a few posts with people germinating in a paper towel now. Again I think your simply over thinking it.

As for the other stuff you mentioned, I dunno where that came from nor do I care what was said previously or privately, none of my business. I'm sure if he thought you were actually cheating you would have already been disqualified. I understand your wanting a clarification and I'm not stepping on your toes over that or saying your doing anything wrong, just simply that you were over thinking in terms of what germination or sprouting meant. The rules state that is has to be above ground by the 1st. Again if your doing it the way you said its still sprouted and would be planted in the soil as such thus being above the soil. Nothing has ever been said that it has to completely break the soil from below the soil in order to count as being germinated/sprouted. If that was the case all the soil-less mixes and DWC guys would have been DQ'd.

Anyways enough of the ranting, I was not trying step on your toes bud, just making a simple observation/statement. Good luck and hope you get the answer your looking for.

one way i have never tried is letting them soak till then sink then planting in slightly watered soil
This is the method I use. I put the seeds in a cup of water until they sink and crack showing their taproot, at this point I place them in my soil just below the surface and cover them up lightly, you don't wanna pack the soil over it, nor sow them to deep either. I so far for the most part have had a 100% germination rate doing it this way as long as the seeds were viable.

that's what I do. Started using rapid rooters again for seeds. The soil dries out faster than the rapid rooter. Also when I water the seed can't sink further down. I've lost a lot of seeds that way planting directly in the soil.

Alright here's my official post.

strain name: Kerala x skunk #1
nutrients used: Buildasoil nutrient pack, watered with aquarium waste water, and a as of yet to be determined foliar feeding regiment. Aloe, humic's, compost tea's, ect. All will be listed as I figure it out :P
light source used: (x4)Vero 18's, 4000k, 80 cri, driven by a meanwell LPC-60-1400, Or roughly 42w each, 168w total. Only the inner two are running right now. The outer two are turned off for now while the plants are small. Standard 12/12 cycle.
media used:
1/3 peat moss, 1/3 eco scraps compost, 1/3 perlite.
germination date: 02-22-2015

Two were named by the other half. Who couldn't resist the temptation due to the 'skunk' strain.

Did I make it?

Have you tried using extra myco in the medium? I find it helps drastically reduce the likelihood of damping off, probably (I'm guessing) by out-competing the various fungi that cause it. I plant my seedlings as soon as the shells crack, i try to get em before the tap root comes out to prevent damage and disorientation, and I like to plant them a little deep so they have a bit of distance to shed the shell before they hit the top, I've just noticed it helps them get established a bit quicker.
