I've just been trying different setups for different tents to see how they all work. I already know what HPS can do for me. I'm pretty happy with the 2 cob grows I have under my belt. I've been watching led grows since 2005 and only decided to bother giving it a try recently. The reason I expanded was because I liked the results.

Again, the gavita, or any DE or mogul based HPS is probably the way to go for people who aren't interested in buying an LED car. lol I don't even know if this will actaully save me money in the long term. It's a risk. Satieved seems to think no. That's fair enough. Maybe he's right and it would have been more economical to get HPS... but I'm happy with the results I'm getting at least! As good or better than when I used HPS.

I've found for my growing style (which is let the plant do wtf it wants) that HPS is more suited and DE specifically.
I'll still run the lecs and onyxes on their own or maybe in combo but in the end I THOUGHT I was gonna get away from high wattage HID, not quite yet.

Almost everyone coming to the LED section is recommended to get HPS instead of following through with their LED plans.

Well until LEDs are more competitive price wise many people will continue to go to HPS. When the prices to cover equal area become even LED will prevail but until there HPS is going to be our go to for a lot because of the weight it can produce and quality difference are very small at the time.

Commercial flower greenhouses use these things. Flowers that aren't cannabis. They do far more research into profitability of these things. They are the most efficient lights on the market watt per watt and also have very long bulb life. Cost for that efficiency is very reasonable too unlike highend LEDs which are the only thing that can compete in lighting efficiency per watt (at about 5x the cost).

Commercial greenhouses in HOLLAND use these things=== cold for most of the year, it's also used for a heat source; win for them. extra HVAC load for the rest of us though....
