I know this is a controversial subject, but that's because alot of people who use herion also use other drugs and alcohol which can age them rapidly. I haven't used herion in 10 years, but lately I've ran into a few prostitutes and strippers who are in there late to mid 20's that look 15 years old there main drug of use and choice is herion, they started usen at around 15 years old but sadly they act like a 15 yrs old in some ways too not all ways. You can google this topic there's alot of threads online about it even drug counselers say it preserves youthful apperance, it somehow slows and stops certain hormones that keep you from aging physically and mentaly what a fucken trip huh?.

People misunderstand and think heroin is somehow chemically destructive to the body. For the most part it's not. It's what you do while on heroin, because of heroin, or to get more heroin that causes the physical damage.

All I know, is the people I see and have known that were heroin addicts did not age well. And I have yet to see a hooker in her 20s that looked less than 40 years old, wasted.

Yeah, not destructive uhhh. I've seen my good friend fall face forward, smack on the ground after shooting up. That same buddy totaled two different cars and lost multiple jobs, but yeah, not destructive. Plus, I have never heard of people OD'ing from bad dope or too strong of dope, healthy stuff. Heroin is awesome.

yes, but the ACTUAL level of testosterone doesn't change. it's the RELATIVE testosterone level that decreases...

the real change is that opiates cause your estrogen & progesterone to go way up. the effects of these high female sex hormones COULD make you grow breasts, but that's not likely unless you've got liver disease or obesity. What's likely to happen is the following:
  1. decreased sex drive.
  2. erectile dysfunction (to some degree at least)
  3. increased subcutaneous fat layer (the 'smoothing' fat layer that females have--not very in-line with the body-building efforts) some people refer to this as "water weight." it could be anywhere from 5 to 25 pounds of "swelling."
^^^That's copied and pasted from "Richard_Smoker" from this thread, https://drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73999. The 3rd bullet point is probably the explanation. Not sure how factually valid that claim is though. As far as anecdotal information, I've been using opiates pretty consistently (at least 2-3 times a week) for the past 2 years (occasionally heroin but I prefer cheaper quasilegal alternatives) and am in my earlier 20's but most older people I run into believe I'm 15-16 years old as well.

Might also have something to do with all the animal hormones in our food which we've been exposed to growing up? Most people swear kids keep getting younger and better looking with each generation, drug users or not. Perhaps something to do with natural selection? Less desire to find physically fit individuals to mate with and more with physical attractiveness?

I have been using this fact to show people how much they are influenced by myth for years. "Heroin is not harmful to the body " i would say and challenge them otherwise. They were mostly all in absolute denial.

Much later i did some more research and discovered that morphine use can permanently shut down testosterone production and can have a detrimental effect on the heart apart from the ills assoviated with route of administration.

Of course the cardio vascular affects are rare. The testosterone thing is not. Heroin addicts tend to keep their hair.

We also know there can be sudden and possibly irreversable hearing loss from use of hydrocodone or oxycodone (dont recall which).

Again rare and involving large amounts or prolonged use.

Opiates will impede the productiin of testosterone. This may affect purtions if yhe ageing process. It explains the lowered sex drive if abusers as well.
Maybe a study on opiates and steroids could be done, and all the jocks super juicers wouldn't be assholes, nor hit on your date at a bar:-)

Given dependable doses, high purity levels and safe administration there is little danger.

I have two friends with morphine pumps, one has had hers for fourteen years, the other nine. No accidents, no problems. It ain't the drug.
