Hello any organic soil growers still starting seeds in rock wool cubes? Wondering if i could just use pure R/0 water the pH is a perfect neutral (7) but i was taught to soak rock wool in pH between 5.5/6. But i wish not to alter the water with any chemical pH down or up.

Well, if you do not want to use any chems. at all then create a soil mix that is high in peat. Peat is naturally acidic and will help maintain a PH that is optimal for nutrient adsorption. Maybe you could use vinegar to PH down the water for your rockwool if that's not too chemically for you. Just a thought.

Ok cool thanks yeah i was going to use a little apple cider vinegar or white vinegar to lower my pH if i had too i was hoping R/O would be just fine and for my soil mix i have that covered, i just wanted to start off in rock wool because its what i am used to, I'm going to try some root plugs as well for first time.

I have an ro system and used it ages back on them but mines at 6ph so big difference.

I just finished germinating a few beans it appears a couple i didn't push further down enough in the medium. Anyone with advice or ideas on how to fix ? just 2 of them are little stretched and i can see some of the radicle root coming out of a root plug and another out of the rock wool being exposed to light.

Well f**k my last question. Miracle gro perlite ok ran out of black gold, this is all thats around for couple days. It says its erinched with miracle gro plants food which raises my caution, and prompts the questioning.

I don't start seeds in anything except soil.
but I do use rockwool for clones sometimes and I don't worry about any ph anything. No problems.

Anyone out there ever brewed a barley seed tea for longer than 24 hrs ? Timed the watering wrong and may have to stretch it another 12 hours before stopping the tea bubble.

it should be fine, I know of people that freeze the leftovers as ice cubes, maybe strain, and blend first, then put them back in there to bubble more.
I doubt 12 hrs would hurt anything

I would think as long as it doesn't go Anaerobic it would be fine also. Give it a good sniff before you use it.

i had a few seedlings suffer from some heat stress due to a/c being turned off for few hours, i have removed them from there original light source (200watt) to a 40watt light i also transplanted them from tray to containers and foliar sprayed and light soil drench with a barley seed tea with a little bioAg.

Its been 4-5 days since and i was wondering when is it safe to put them back under the original light source, 3 out of 4 seem to be recovering with pretty slow growth but at least their growing, one is completely stunted it seems like.
