Looking for a place to Volunteer in my free time.

My options are helping kids, olds, sicks, blinds, deafs, housing-related, food-related, etc. Your standard not-for-profit organizations. I'd like to pick one and then go for it.

Anyone have any great or shitty experiences they want to share?

I'm sure someone's going to obviously say I can volunteer to hold their ball-sack all day or something to that effect...

But, maybe a good suggestion will come out of it?

I'm thinking more so in line with volunteering as a companion for the Elderly. I've always wanted to do that but never have for some reason.
