those are alittle big for air stones unless your running a large pump . in witch case i reccomend a venturi effect . or a waterfall as i do with a cheap water pump . I pump water up to a hanging bucket (not real high) filled with holes an allow it to fall back in using a waterfall so natural . making some earthworm / compost tea right now 1/4cup compost, 1/4 teasoon molasses to 1 gallon water (sometimes i add homemade kombutcha to lower the ph a little in veg but not needed) i would post a pic but dont want to be rude as you have a great account going here:) i love the organic approch.

i reccomend tim wilsons ideas (@Microbeman ??) that air stones are too hard to clean real well and give bad( not needed ) microbes a chance if not cleaned real well . water pumps or venturi lifts are easy to clean and dry fully between batches www.microbeorganics.com

Post a picture please. I'm still working on my setup and if you could recommend an air pump that would be large enough that would be available through amazon that would be awesome.

i will add a pic to this post in a minute from my phone of my tea brewer. here is the WATER pump i use http://www.amazon.com/EcoPlus-728497-1500-Elite-Submersible/dp/B002JLI8FW[/QUOTE

here is the method i use but into a bucket

Someone I reddit suggested
http://www.microbeorganics.com

The outcome of this research was, the estimation, that the minimum flow required from an air pump to make compost tea while maintaining the DO2 at 6 PPM, is 0.05 CFM per gallon while the optimum flow is 0.08 CFM per gallon or greater. (the only exception was when utilizing airlifts)

This page is loaded with information.

I also bought "teaming with microbes" and home grown humus, a no til gardening book.

i suggested microbeorganics on my first post, tim wilson is awsome i have been using his methods for 5 years.
the venturi effect works better than airlift for me .
i had really bad luck with airstones polluting my tea... good luck

Thanks, I used to keep a saltwater reef and I used to use a venturi skimmer to remove unwanted proteins and aerate the water.

The main reason I was wanting to go with an air pump is because I can put 2 stones in each barrel and only run a single pump. i was thinking of going with this one.

And stones like this

Any input would be nice.

overall garden update, after rain edition
Strawberry , lettuce, tomatilos

Bulls heart tomatoes

Super sauce tomatoes and San Marzanos

Late addition to the grow, Momotoro tomato I picked up after the Seminar.

The veggie boxes

I'm having a hell of a time germinating these okra and when they were coming up they never dropped their casings and they died... I mangled these guys to get the casing off >,< They'll come around though. I also planted Beets between the rows of okra.

cantaloupe

Butternut squash and Japanese pumpkin.

Potato

This Bamboo is growing like crazy...

Every day I'm training them.... training them... training... them... lol. I'm kind of just winging this so if anybody wants to chime in and let me know if I'm doing this right or if I'm ruining them ha!

My sweet ass dump cart I got for Christmas. I just put this bad boy together. It actually dumps!

First ride goes to my buddies daughter. She turns 4 on Sunday :)

I found this guy yesterday morning... It's an evil bug!

That auto berry ryder all trimmed up. We burned one yesterday and it's potent! And out tastes nice! I'm Pretty happy with it though I only got a half gallon jar full.

Gardens looking great already woot. I grew San Marzano tomatoes last year, they were really good. I like the shape of them.
That "home brew" setup is nice too.

These San marzanos are seeds left over from last year's girls. They're great for making sauces as the skin is easily removed. This year's tomatoes are looking awesome!
