Flushing

This may sound a really crazy question, but when washing ready for harvesting the plants, do you just flush out the soil or actually wash the buds ? Ive had friends saying just flush the soil and other Youtube showing people actually washing the buds.

I usually wash them in the dish washer, without soap of course...but I guess washing by hand would be as effective

I never wash the buds unless they are contaminated with dangerous chemicals.... Dirt will fall as the buds dry... If you must clean the buds, just give them a gentle shower. Flushing the soil needs to be done at least a week, preferably 2 weeks before harvest, so that the plant can consume what is left on its leaves to give a smooth smoke. It's purpose is not to clean the dirt :-)

I ended up flushing the soil but havent washed the buds at all, I think I probably should have washed the buds !!!
don't wash your buds, I was just puling your chain about the dishwasher

the only time I seen people wash them is if they were badly infected with PM (powdery mildew)

PS: next time skip the flushing as it's not required

You might give them a spray off of water a few days before chop if you've been using some nasty pesticides. Be aware of the sprays you use and their half life and you won't need to.
If you haven't been using any sprays then washing the bud is just pointless.

No need to wash buds. If you spray stuff on your buds that you need to wash off then you shouldn't have sprayed them in the first place. For the last 7-10 days before harvest you should be giving your plants clean water only. I got PM in my last flower stage and I got PM Wash and sprayed them up until the day before harvest but it is a spray that wont effect the buds at all. Besides that just flush the soil. Also washing your buds at harvest will higher your risk of getting mold and ruining your crop.
