Pythium

So I come home today and BAM one plant is wilting in my aero system, weird - it had been doing great the day before. They've only been in there a week and a half and most are about 1' tall and incredibly bushy.

Then I look at the roots and it's roots are a light colored brown, all of them..pythium. Not slimey dark brown like most pythium pictures, but a light tan color. More inspection leads me to see that some other plants are starting to get some black spots on their roots too.

I run a sealed grow room. I turned off my lights except for some overhead fluoros, lowered temps to 68, and lowered co2 to 300ppm. My hope is that I can put them to "sleep"/slow their growth down while I eradicate this problem.

I drained the res and refilled with fresh nuteless water and I dosed with some pool shock to bring 3ppm total 1ppm free, after my sprayers ran for 15 minutes all the free chlorine was gone, so I dosed again..rinse and repeat until I'm able to keep a residual. I started just putting little bits in when it didn't test high enough and now I'm reading 5ppm total and 3-4ppm free which are pretty close to each other. The water and inside of the grow chamber smell like rot.

Why did I get it? Well, for one my water was 80 degrees even with my 1/4 hp chiller, so I moved it out of the grow room and set temp to 68. It is at 74 right now as the water was heating up while I was repiping everything but we'll see.

The first week I ran mycos and pondzyme and didn't have any issues. the myco isn't for hydro though and it turned my water red and started growing on some of my pump tubing and kept dropping the pH, but the plants didn't mind and their roots were white.

When I changed the reservoir I just added the pondzyme, and 3 days later I have pythium.

So, should I run the chlorine over night? My ORP is at 792 right now and a few minutes should kill any pythium except I need to give it time to penetrate the bioslime.

Then should I go back to using the myco and pondzyme together? I've tried brewing the tea and I got the slime. I tried running calcium hypochlorite but the chlorine binds to the ammonium in the nutes and my ORP controller overdoses the chlorine.

@Atomizer I'm still here working on the aero ;)

Have you used any h2o2 in the res? this is all in the cloner right? I dont add nothing to my cloner but plain water. I dont take out chlorine or lower ppm. Plane water gives them all thay need. and you said "temps 74 right now as the water was heating." How high does the water temp get? If i let my water temp stay at 80 or above my roots will turn brown too. Keep it simple and you will find your grove.
happy growing
