The positive, economic effect of lowering the minimum wage to $0

yeah, we should just let growing children eat whatever they want, no matter how unhealthy.

oh, and let's not forget that you should be able to pay them to have sex with you.

You did say kids could consent to trades with things like turkey sandwiches didn't you? What did you have to do to get a bag of lollipops from the badman?

1 star thread. Completely and utterly worthless.

If companies today, with a minimum wage, are paying as little as possible, not at all caring about the worker, what the fuck makes you think they would care any more when there is no minimum wage? Fucking retarded.

Honestly this tops some of the dumbest shit ever posted on all of the internet. Ever. Jesus H Mother Fucking Christ.

The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 introduced a 40 hour work week, child labor laws, time-and-a-half for overtime work, and a standard minimum wage. The author of this bill, a Republican by today's standards, and a Klansman, was later elected to the United States Supreme Court. He was appointed by FDR.

Here is where it gets really interesting. If the bill were not mangled from its inception, minimum wage would have kept pace with labor production, and today's minimum wage earnings would be roughly $18.28 an hour. You know why it's not? Because starting in the late 60's (todays) Republicans started amending the bill and stonewalling votes for increase in wage, and that's been the case ever since.

we used to have a $0 minimum wage, it was called slavery.

something tells me a klansman like unclebenis would like that.

So if 100% of a persons labor is forcefully extracted, you agree that they are enslaved?

What if 30% of the value of a persons labor is forcefully extracted...are they in some way 30% enslaved ?

Also, Meathead, I like that you used slavery in your example, please try to work in some rape examples too.

(It's likely in the 30% scenario they are more than 30% enslaved , since the remainder wages are usually spent on a restricted range of services and goods that also have an accumulation of taxes etc. embedded in them)

I think it was 35 26 week periods, not years. 35 years would make the basis number even smaller. I got the info from http://ssa.gov/ but closed the particular page that had the $118,500 figure. Ah! Here's one that states it..........http://www.socialsecurity.gov/OACT/COLA/cbb.html

There's something called a wage base. The link you posted has that info back to 1935.

For the purpose of calculating your SS benefit, your prior year earnings are normalized to a standard value.

The 35 years of your highest normalized amount is summed and then divided by the total number of months to give your ave normalized monthly amount. This value along with two other yearly set variables, (determined in the year you turn 62), are used to calculate your final payout. These three variables are weighted. If you continue to work relative to your eligibility date, your final payout will be enhanced with "cost of living adjustments" as well. The eligibility date at age 62 is considered "early" withdrawal, 66 is considered "normal".

Simply, if you take payment prior to 66 you're penalized, after 66 up to age 70 you gather a percentage increase.
There is a penalty for "early" withdrawal if you collect wages over a given annual amount.

That's how it works.

Btw, SS program viability is depend upon worker wages and productivity going up. It's a hand to mouth type of program.

working full time and not wanting to stand in line for handouts after is entitlement?

seems like it's the opposite. seems like it's basic dignity for a 40 hour week.
Hah! Now that is rich. You post drivel, low life, mindless gutter rhetoric day in and day out here, and you think you're ENTITLED to "basic dignity"? Respect and dignity are earned and brudder, you gots a long way to go. ;)

Exactly what I've been saying. They are full of shit, don't have a clue. The thing they have in common with Obama and the rest of the liberals is they're totally out of touch with reality.

I'll say it again, this is nothing more than a welfare entitlement mindset for these losers.

Fuck you losers, you're not entitled to a damn thing but getting off your RIU ass and making something out of your life. Life is tough, deal with it. No one owes any one a damn thing and that includes a minimum wage. Start at the bottom, work hard even if it's working menial tasks, take pride. Stick with it and you too will have financial security one day if you're smart.

I agree that many people feel entitled and that doesn't add up. We owe others the right to run their own life and others owe that to us.

It is amazing that the more work I do on my homestead, the more food I can produce. When I wait for others to do it for me, nothing happens. Yes, truly amazing. In fact, while sitting here reading and drinking coffee, my lazy potatoes did not plant themselves...those fuckers!

I raise a lot of our food. It's healthy, fresh, and delicious - 11 varieties of herbs, veggies, fruits, nuts, grapes, berries. Just harvested garlic. Check out these pods, the biggest I've ever grown. I have 40' of row to harvest just in garlic. Taters, asparagus, cukes, maters, melons, peppers, etc. I'd raise livestock if I had the heart to slaughter them but I'd end up naming them and make a pet out of them.

Hey God.

When my wife turned 62 she would of only collected 160.00 per month because she has been a house wife most of her life so I started

paying her wages and after 8 years it has gone up over 1100.00 per month. She will turn 70 in less that two weeks and will collect her first SS check. Every little bit helps. I wish I would of started paying her wages earlier but better late than never.

case in point.

it's become a huge bargaining chip..no longer a right to earn 'livable wages'.

means of production wants something for it. each and every time.

What's this "right" entitlement bullshit? You have a right to make something of yourself which an employee values and pays you what they think you're worth to them, nothing more.

This isn't about me, me, me. It's about business success or failure. MONEY.

Watch "Shark Tank" on ABC some time. You might understand what America is all about - hard work, taking risks, failing and then getting up again to make it thru another day.

how well do you think businesses would do if minimum wage was $0.00?

do you think they would sell more goods if people had less money, benis?

you are a fucking joke. build yourself a goddamn driveway and stop parking in the dirt. that's against code where i live.
