Need input on my plan for my first REAL grow

Greetings from Washington state,

So here's my plan, three 250 watt cfl grow lights, in my closet.
Closet size, 5 1/2 feet tall, 4 1/2 feet wide, 3 feet in.
3 plants, two Indica one hybrid, in 5 gallon buckets, regular potting soil
Shark Shock Indica, Afghan Skunk Indica, Blue Diesel Hybrid

OK so my closet has a bench in it that is half the depth of the closet, 1 1/2 feet. I plan on putting the two indica's on the bench and the hybrid on the floor, being the hybrid will grow faster and taller. I plan on super cropping them all once the hybrid almost reaches the heighth of of the indica's above it. Oh yeah the bench is aprx 1 foot tall.

Would the set up I have planned be adequate enough to get a yield of 5 or six ounces total? Any advice, opinions are welcome. Should I super crop the hybrid more than once being its half sativa? I'm a noob and really have no experience just all the info my brain has absorbed from my research. Any help would be appreciated, ^-^ tanx!

Hmm scrogging, haven't studied this one yet... Hey thanks for giving me another tactic for growing mate! I'm definitely researching this starting now!

Bottom right corner to like :bigjoint:

When only using 3 plants you'll be able to spread them through the screen and fill a nice canopy leading to much higher yields!

Pretty easy to build the screen, I just used pvc pipe to make a stand and trellis netting for the screen itself!

Check this link, gives you a good idea of the process!

Desr has a good point.. I have a very similar set up to you (using 600w HPS and supplemental LEDs in about the same size space). Living in CA it gets hot, even with an air cooled hood and 6in inline fan pumping air out of the closet it was sitting over 90 (only 75-80 out side).. Idk how much heat CFLs put off as i have never used them but I'm sure you will be running into the same problem. I shelled out the 300$ for an AC unit and my closet hovers in the 75-80 range! Sucks but it is necessary for summer growing!

If you used 10 gallon buckets your harvest will increase 50% + Thought 5 gallon the way to go, but no - I know the one is limited with their space but next grow try 10 gallon

even 400w air cooled in a tent at this time of the year is work to keep below 90. you could just open your door. at that point it might as well be in the middle of your room knowmsayn. youre going to need fresh air in and hot air out..

By my research CFLs don't put off much heat, but being they are very high wattage and quantified by three, I would imagine they may run a little hot. I don't know if this good enough, well ok my closet has two sliding doors so it may work as in a well working airflow by putting one box fan facing in on the floor, and the other hung on by the top of the other opening... Cool air from ground level entering from the bottom hot air that rises gets sucked out from the top box fan on the other side... I might do two box fans on one side and two on the other to maximize airflow. The set up won't be ready till fall time so it will be nice and cool in my house up here in the pacific northwest... Would this work, I need some more opinions about this too, because I don't know if this theory would actually work

Blah Blah Blah.

Fist off you should realize this newbie is growing CFL not HPS. Without venting, heat could be issue but not due CFLs.
And secondly he believes the hybrid will outgrow the indicas.

You both consider reading again to diagnose his issues and then give him a correct advice and opinion.

In theory i could see that working... however some ducting and inline fan would work better.
Could be a challenge to duct with sliding doors though..
Mine has a regular door so i cut a hole in the top right corner to vent out and the gap underneath allows plenty of cool air in!

What if i tell you newbie has no money for ducting fan?

If he did he would go for a proper set up. Since CFL is good only for vegin.
But yes I would definitely recommend him to put the indicas on the floor and keep the hybrid on the bench and check out other topics on how to SCROG. Also he must find a proper platform for the lights to give him the ability to regulate them further or closer to the plants.
