How much and how often should I water a seedling in a 3 gallon pot?
and I will add...only water the first time like that.

when a young seedling you don't need to continue watering until it drains out, especially with a 3 gallon pot, just enough to get reasonably wet

Next grow, I would recommend starting in something smaller and work your way up. It makes watering easier . I go solo cup to one gal pot to three gal.

Ok thanks for the responses everyone and next time I think I will start with a sm as ller container it seems alot easier. What about when the pot feels heavy and you can tell the water it sitting on the bottom but the top is dry can anyone recommend what I should fo in that case? Im thinking spray the top with a spray bottle. Would this be correct?

If there is water in the bottom and dry up top your in trouble its already been over watered you might want to transplant it now into a smaller pot before you get root rot and bugs
the only time you want to start of in a big container is with autos they need to be started in a big pot due to their tap root

use finger test ; water 2 out of 3 x's ( 1 x per day)
I've been using finger test meathod but like I said the top layer will b dry but the bottom of the pot feels heavy so should I just leave the top dry if the bottom feels like there's water in it? How much water a day would you recommend? Ive been doing 8 oz a day for a 3 gallon pot.

if dry up your 2nn nuckle water it; top layer could be dry - no worry - example: water-dry-water-dry-water-dry (sometiiiin=mes can go 3 days depends on pot - your 3 gallon can last 3 days easy - no measure - make it easy on yourself - after a while you will know how your plants "drinks" !!!! Leave no standing water
