I dont know the details but in general you are not required to take a beating .The dead guy should not have pursued him to his own demise .

Aren't cops trained to defend themselves in hand to hand combat?
Im trained, I still am not required to get into a fight or take a beating .If some irrational idiot is threatens me or others with bodily harm, They lose the right to due process.

If he had time to run to his car, why didn't he just drive off. Sounds more like an ego trip to me.

So you have a choice to drive away like a real man. Or you can shoot the guy, fuck off tons of money on a lawyer and not to mention our tax dollars.

Now what seems logical?

If this is what people come to expect from our 'justice' system, pretty soon they'll start acting like it.

Cops think they're on the defensive now...

Right here. He went back inside with a weapon and killed the victim.

If he didn't have a badge, they'd call that 'premeditated murder' and if he can do it while off duty, then I'd say it's time to fire the sheriff, the DA and the police chief. If they don't go quietly, I'd say we hold them to the same standards they're holding us civilians to... And shoot them where they stand.

Are you saying you're a cop, because that's what that sounded like. Don't worry you'll fit right in with all the other cops here ;)
psi is a poseur. Another thread he claimed to be a multimillionaire.

My dad was born in Mississippi, grew up there and moved to Florida. He did some time for running moonshine before he moved west and married. He hated the police, never trusted cops and never wanted to see the south again. So its my guess that this police officer is surprised that anybody cares. He only did what his daddy did. I'd be interested if others with a background in this peculiar part of the country think whether or not this is a new development or if the southern police have always been this way and only now its making the news.
There never has been a justice system, only judicial system.

I'm not a proponent of gun control mostly from a pragmatic point of view. But daaaamn we can make pleading self defense to be more than "he scared me".

Why7 didnt Mays walk to his own car and drive off like a man ? No he had to come up on Andres.

When they got off the bus, Andres confronted May and a fight broke out. Another relative tried to separate them, and Blount told the Star-Telegram Andres hit him.

May walked toward his vehicle and Andres ran toward his. Someone yelled that Andres had a gun in his vehicle and May turned around to run toward him, Blount said. She believes May was trying to stop Andres from getting his gun out of the vehicle.

“But he was too late,” she said. “Andres reached down and got his gun out of his car and turned and shot my brother.”
