Public Schools to begin drug testing

Crivitz, WI — Many government schools across the country are now considering mandatory drug tests for students. This fall, schools in the Crivitz school district, in Wisconson, will actually be implementing the drug testing policy for students. This is just the latest example of children and young adults having no rights in school.

Football coach Jeff Dorschner is one of the supporters of the new policy, and it seems from his comments that he fails to see how drug testing students is a gross violation of their privacy and natural born rights.

“We have a growing drug problem in Marinette County and in talking with the police force and talking with school administrators and other conference athletic directors, I just felt that as a school we could do something to try to deter students,Dorschner told WBAY.

Luckily, there are a few loopholes that will allow some students to opt out of the testing, but they will only be exempt if they stay away from extracurricular activities and if they don’t apply for a parking pass. Students who enroll in extracurricular activities, or purchase a parking pass for the school parking lot will all be forced to take mandatory drug tests. It is possible that the district will also find other ways to trap students into the tests, perhaps requiring them for field trips, lunch assistance or special events like school dances.

The students will not have any warning about when they will be tested either, as every two weeks their names will be selected randomly.

Dorschner attempted to defend the new policy by saying that students will not be expelled or arrested, but a failed drug test could obviously cause immense trouble for students who may choose to use drugs responsibly.

“They’re not expelled from school. We’re not getting the police involved. Their records are totally confidential through the nurse’s office, and it’s getting these kids back on track,” Dorschner said.

The land of the free also happens to be the land where they can drug test you anywhere. Seems super hypocritical. This is just a way for certain school administrators to push their religious beliefs on schools. I bet they are receiving a boat load more funding to go threw with this program too. Because that's how schools work, they devise these schemes and get X amount of dollars from the state for their "budget".

It's all about increasing that budget anyway you can. Children should not be fearful of going to school because they may be drug tested, that's the bottom line. School should be for education only, facts only, not some religiously motivated anti drug campaign.

What good does drug testing do when any kid can go to a doctor and get any drug they want if they do the research before they go there. I have X wrong with me I need these drugs and a doctor will give them to you. They don't even question shit anymore.

it would only be illegal if cops were involved, or some sort of charge.

and yes MANY, you need not be in any activity, its the entire student body.. but they still paddle kids in some schools too. even without parental consent.
big spring highschool had an interesting near lawsuit 3? years ago for the paddling..complete turnover of higher up staff and board

Good or bad? It's fucking obscene on every level. Why test for weed when alcohol clears your system in 24 hours? WTF do they want all their kids drinking? Oh yeah, those things have bar codes and turn a corporate profit... yeah, that's the fucking ticket.

yall dont even make sense.
maybe im not high enough

Math teacher Buck Robert (male) can also... paddle... girl (female)
....no

it has nothing to do with profit, weed happens to stay in your system longer than any other (common) drug. when drug testing in jones town, (what was perhaps still is, the meth capitol of tx) i assure you they are hoping to find meth. they can only randomly test every so often..or it infringes on rights, do you expect them to test every 3 days? or that would still leave alcohol, test upon leaving the classroom??

and everyone is going to know what? their is no big database of kids who failed lol. you fail the test, its a call home. test is then tossed.. and it cant be shared

somehow ignorance made it seem like im defending this crap.

Explaining how the system works doesn't seem like you are defending it at all.

I think you are naive to think there isn't money motivating people here. You don't think the budget at the school is larger to accommodate testing? Or kickbacks going to the school from the labs used from testing? Or how about the drug treatment centers that no doubt a school has pamphlets for ready to recommend?

There's money in everything. I don't trust people who go out of their way to invade people's lives for profit. I have a problem with religious groups for this reason. If a student is using/abusing drugs it's a family issue, it's not a school issue.

I'm also a little concerned about the tests being recorded. When the NSA is building massive buildings to hold all the data it possibly can you don't think things like this are high priority for them? they are collecting all the dirt on everyone why wouldn't a drug test be a piece of that dirt?

I'm not totally paranoid of your great state. I do however drive up and across the states above Texas when in a car. Got an uncle lives there - has his hired help grow his herb in his ocre patch every year - He gets a good cut from it... Drives a vet with a vaporizer in the dash! He got pulled over one day for speeding and told the State Trooper it was his nebulizer!
