Possibility of WW3?

So I've been chatting with a few people about the possibility of WW3 and only one person actually considers it a possibility. Why is it at times of peace war seems so out of the question yet in an instant war can break out.

Strictly my opinion. If humanity approaches it's boundaries again it is going to cause mass unemployment, this is going to lead to a global economic depression, when this happens the leaders of the world superpowers are going to devise a plan to plunge humanity into ww3, like they did in ww2, they will do this because they realize it is now humanities only hope for survival. Unfortunately when you open Pandoras Box it releases all of the evils of mankind, leaving only hope inside, it very well could unleash armaggeddon.

My question is do you believe that ww3 could be a possibility?

I remember back in the 70s a rumor was going around the high school about a world war was starting. My sister was one of those Make Love not War types. Most of the kids at the high school were hold overs from the hippy days. It got sob out of control they had to send the kids home and shut the high school down. What boundaries?

A couple of those people are definitely more intelligent than me, though as intelligent as they are I still feel that they are ignorant for dismissing the possibility of WW3.

I mean the boundaries of the ecosystems ability to support the human species, which with today's technology is estimated to be at around 10 billion, so we still have some room. Just as third world nations can not find the resources to support its economies humanity in any location has boundaries of population support. There are a number of things that could collapse the economy. IMO it could lead to ww3.

Check this OP. Russia don't want a world war. They want everyone to have money to spend and get rich selling to others all across this boundless world. Same with China. Same with the U.S. UK. The only people who would want world war are NK and the fanatics. And of course all the sad, lonely, depressed, the other guy got more stuff than me types.

Much more likely for localized civil skirmishes in my opinion. Civil wars and of course that old line? So what is so civil about war anyway?

Anything is possible, but a world war like we've had in the past is highly unlikely at this point. There's too much money involved in keeping the peace, think about international trade. Also most if not all of the UN members have protection treaties to prevent that exact thing from happening.

There probably will never be anythng we call a ww3, war has become to yucky of a word. Everything is "military conflicts", which we are in a neverending state of. So the idea by op that we are at peace atm and thats why people cant consider ww3 a possibility inst the reality of it. It's just that we have become accustomed to a perpetual state of war.
