Curing Large Quantities

I am overwhelmed at how much I have yet to trim. A windstorm busted a few branches, so those are waiting in the garage. I have nine ten foot trees to chop, trim, dry and cure.

I have too much crop for mason jars. Someone suggested a Rubbermaid tote. Does the curing work the same? If I heap dried buds in a bin, what would I do, open, stir, leave open awhile, close, repeat?

I am trying to get as much as I can from my unexpectedly large crop. I just don't know where to put it all. I hashed some trim, the really 'good' trim went into the freezer, for butter and hash.

But I have to get this all put up. I just need a "bigger method" than glass jars.

Thanks in advance for sharing your know-how.

A good storage tote works well. Gotta dump it out a few times during the curing process. I use a table that has a leaf in it. Dump out the product. Pull the table apart in center and putt the tote under there. Push all product right back in. Super easy. Once moisture content is achieved I also turkey bag it out into 450-460 gram bags. Then back in the tote for another couple weeks.

I used totes last year...worked OK..this year I'm going to buck up and buy big ass glass jars..good ones... I've bought the huge glass jars at Walmart for 13$ that hold a pound but you have to make a gasket for the lid...its not airtite if ya don't.

If it's large scale like what your talking I have used large totes before also.......just watch the moisture close of course depending on how wet you'll begin the cure. I usually will dump mine on a large table that I cover in a large piece of brown butcher paper that wai when I repack the bud into bens anything that comes off on the paper can be swept back into a paper bag as I go and used for hash or anything for that matter. Also the nice thing about a paper lined table is if the buds are wetter than expected coming out of the tote I can simply put another peice of paper over the top of the spread out bud to draw moisture out quicker if need be before retoting. My table is 7feet long by 4 foot wide so it can hold a lot of bud at once Remember to keep track of your batches as you harvest put dates on your totes and notes with a sharpie so you know exactly what each batch needs. It's easy to lose track with lots of totes during cure. Same with drying keep track It's lots of work but well worth the effort in the end Good luck

Thank you. This is my first grow, and I got way WAY more than I expected. My drying racks are full, I think the first ones should be dry enough to move out...

I don't want to waste any of it, I've got a big job on my hands.

No complaints. :-)

I'd like to use glass, but I'm anticipating over ten pounds... At $13 a jar... Rubbermaid it is.

Glass is best... Turkey bags let out moisture but conceal smell.. second choice for curing is vacuum sealed bags they hold in moisture and smell.. and when it comes time to move that shit just wash the outside of the vacuum sealed bag with high grain rubbing alcohol and 're vacuum sealed and do a final alcohol wash... Shits ready for shipping..

If it's 10 pounds then spend a lil cash my friend Like mentioned above glass gets cheaper the more you buy plus you won't need as many as you'd think for 10lbs food grade buckets or glass is cheap enough for 10lbs I usually am harvesting quite a lot that's why I gave the info above But 10lbs is a wonderful harvest don't get me wrong awesome job for your first grow And remember don't slack off at the end it's all your hard work your dealing with now. Peace

Moon i have harvested 800 pounds wet took 3 weeks and paid trimmers just under 17,000 dollars how we do it is use screens forget hanging crap go make some screens or use door sceens 4 x 8 " usually takes 4 - 5 days for it to appear dry on outside we then garbage bag them all twist tight and place in cool room for 6 - 10 hrs seating out buds we do not woory to much of the ones that over dried as the sweating will even out all product then we place back onto screens 8 - 12 hrs
After that bag em and burp em daily there ready to be sold we measure bags 235 grms per half pound bag works out perfect

Some people grow a 100s of lbs some grow just a few lbs None the less it's all about what info you like and want to use that you get from people 10lbs is a nice first harvest you have nothing to be ashamed about. And good for you for growing and asking for help to make sure you take good care of your hard work
