Trophy Hunting Endangered Animals

in the news today I see a German hunter shot a very rare and old elephant. Reminds us of the lion who was just shot. Nothing illegal.

I'll say it, but trophy hunting is abominable to me.

Given that these mamals have feelings, emotions, fear, and grief- WTF right do we have killing for perverse pleasure?

Thanks for tuning in

I agree 100%
If you don't plan to eat it or use it for some form of sustainance you shouldn't kill anything.
And the people that make money taking these rich people out to get their rocks off are even worse.

I think many hunters feel an animal has no feelings or nothing at all. Makes it easier to justify. Killing to eat is one thing

Then there's your religious whack jobs out there with "mans dominion over animals" bullshit rhetoric

Then those "mans dominance" idiots should try to kill something with only their hands.
Shooting from a distance for no reason is just cruel and moronic.
Trophy hunters want to bang their chests like they are silverback gorillas but hopefully fewer and fewer trophy hunters exist.
Hopefully they go extinct long before all the animals

There is absolutely no justifiable reason for trophy hunting in my mind. Conservation is a crock of shit, if you care about conserving an animal population why not just donate? Instead these "hunters" will only help if they're allowed to kill. Again if they care about helping the impoverished people, why not just donate that money? Trophy "hunters" like to hide behind the conservation argument but none of them actually give a shit, they just want to kill something exotic.

What serial killers and trophy hunters have in common:
  • Compelled to keep a trophy souvenir from their victims
  • The killing is addictive and leads to more killings
  • They seek fame, attention, and notoriety
  • The kills are premeditated (who, what, where, how)
  • The killing gives a surge of adrenalin ("thrill kill")
  • Stalking the victim gives a feeling of excitement
  • Killing becomes a compulsion (addiction)
  • The killing is seen as a "sport" or "game"
  • There's a down time ("cooling off" period) between killings
  • Gives the killer a feeling of power, dominance, and control over their victim
  • They are titillated by "the hunt" and fantasize about the kill
  • Many document their kills via photos and/or videos to gratify themselves later

Great point.

I shoot me a Trophy Turkey about every couple of years and ENJOY the fuck out of the Tasty meal later.
I think this is fine, as is fishing for only what I'll be eating- I think catch n release is a cruel game. Shoot the elk as long as you plan to eat it and share with others. OBV, do it all legally, tags and all.

Trophy hunting is an egotistical exercise, nothing more- this might explain the similarities between its enthusiasts and serial killers. Such behavior should not be tolerated at all, let alone at such a frightful cost to the planet.

Don't save them.
But the longest has been 10 inches.
And in reality any successful Turkey Hunt is a trophy in it's self.
I've heard the stories. Wild Turkey in BC (introduced from Oregon, and now migrating naturally) are clever bastards. They are not as easy to bag as one would think.

Clever hell !
They are Smart fuckers.
One guy (actually, the guy who tested me for my license) told me a story about how he had to run after one, and anyone who says they can't fly has never seen a turkey under chase  He kept pumping load after load and the damn thing kept 2nd guessing him and flying out of the way.
I guess that's why the turkey guns are generally semi-auto (in Canada) No time for pumping!

It's one thing on my bucket list...and a wild boar (tasty).

I know, why don't they just sit and watch TV and Movies all day...i like AMC, they got a drug show, makes me lulz

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_(TV_channel)
The channel's name originally stood for "American Movie Classics", but since 2003 the full name has been de-emphasized as a result of a major shift in itsprogramming.[1][2]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_drift
Channel drift or network decay[1] is the gradual shift of a television network away from its original programming, to either target a newer and more profitable audience, or to broaden their viewership by including less niche programming. Often, this results in a shift from informative, quality programming aimed at the high culture and educated viewers, toward sensational, ratings-based, and/or reality-TV programming designed solely for the entertainment of a mass audience.
