"Today capitalism has outlived its usefulness" discuss!

The full quote from MLK:

"I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic. And yet I am not so opposed to capitalism that I have failed to see its relative merits. It started out with a noble and high motive, to block the trade monopolies of nobles, but like most human systems it falls victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So today capitalism has outlived its usefulness. It has brought about a system that takes necessities from the masses to give luxuries to the classes."

I would, and think most rational people would agree with his statement. I know I do. Why are we trying to act like we need to reinvent socialism, when its really capitalism that needs an overhaul. Socialism does not account for testosterone and the males natural tendency to be greedy, selfish, and destructive anyway. Traditionally it was through war, and conquest. Ahhhh the spoils of war. These days men have wised up and realized being civil leads to far more pussy. As I have said before, the nordic model relys heavily on free markets, and all the community college drop outs who some how fell into Marxist ways need to recognize their Godlessness, and accept that human behavior will never be steered in the right direction by a set of morals set forth by the government.

Every major relgion is against the boasting of your good deeds, prayers for others, or charity for needy. That is the entire liberal agenda however, boasting of the "good" they do, and the good others do not. It is despicable to all humanity around the globe, our shadowleftist government.

There's a very 'dark side' of capitalism that had emerged (or re-emerged) over the last 30 years.

The redistribution of wealth upwards... greedy CEO's... military industrial complex that profits from wars...

Greedy drug companies charging hundreds for drugs that cost a couple dollars to make...

Shrinking middle class that foots the bill for the poor AND the rich....

Tax evading off shore bank accounts... system is a little fucked up these days...

All capitalism is crony.
The first error people make in these kinds of discussion is to assume that "capitalism" is synonymous with a free market.

They are not the same thing.
I agree. However, if you think economic infrastructure and resources should be privatized, you're a capitalist. Otherwise, you're a socialist. You can blame the dictionary for dispelling your bullshit. If I were you I would stick to making up new words, like panarchy, since existing words don't seem to conform to your bullshit views, comrade.

If you were me, there'd be no expectation for other people to be made to forcibly pay for your (my) maintenance.

I'm not a capitalist nor am I a socialist. I am however an advocate for free trade and I didn't make up the term panarchy.

So you're opposed to the private ownership of economic infrastructure and resources?
No, but that doesn't mean I automatically default to yes in every other instance.

I'm opposed to a central authority claiming domain over everything within a given geographical area with or without the individual consent of any people that occupied that area first or who acquired the (unowned) property by mixing their labor with the natural resources there, thus creating ownership.

If Ogg makes a spear from resources he found on land that is unoccupied and unowned, I think it's his spear...don't you?

If people plant crops somewhere on previously unoccupied and unowned land, who owns the land and the crops ?

I think it started with that scumbag Reagan and his trickle down Reaganomics. All the while he's destabilizing countries and running crack into the U.S.

My favorite documentary of all time is Oliver Stone's 'Untold History of the US'. 10 hours long, a Showtime production, it gives a very accurate description of the US since about 1935. It is Stone's finest work, better than his dramatic movies. I highly recommend it. He's hard on all the US presidents over that time period, all of whom led us to where we are today. And Reagan was a jerk. So was Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Carter...they were all obsessed about the spread of communism and supported corrupt regimes that led US down a very dark path.

Then you're a capitalist by definition.

You might benefit by going to the website Center for a Stateless Society and reading the article the foregoing quote was excerpted from...you should also clean the basement before your mom gets home.

What is a Capitalist

In the contemporary parlance, it is largely supposed that a capitalist is one who favors a free market economic system, yet this wasn’t always the case. In the nineteenth century, as the descriptor capitalist came into more frequent use, it was virtually always deployed as a term of abuse, in identification of exploiters; it was simply not synonymous with free markets. In fact, using the word capitalism to signify free markets mostly evinces historical illiteracy and a willful ignorance of the anti-capitalist origins of libertarian thought. A capitalist is, practically by definition, one who exalts capital, who emphasizes the importance of its holders, as against the workers, in the process of production. Early liberals and libertarians never confused or conflated capitalism and free markets, and we shouldn’t either.

@ tangerinegreen555 I thought Eisenhower was good ..no ? Wasn't he the one that warned the country about the militarization of the Country?
He warned about the military / industrial complex in his exit speech when Kennedy was about to be annointed the head doofus.

Score!

He also had a son that married one of Nixons daughters and liked to play hide the salami with women that turned him on more than his tired old wife when he was taking credit for defeating the Germans in WWII. (it was really Russia that defeated Germany )

Boo, hiss!!

He oversaw the Korean war err "conflict" and threatened to use Nukes there, (which makes him an asshole) but he rightfully saw the nuking of innocent women and children in Japan a few years earlier as unnecessary.

Make up your mind...are you a murderer or what?

So he scores a neutral on the Presidential doucheometer.

He was also a champion of equal rights for all. He had two civil rights bills shot down by the leadership of LBJ and Daddy Gore (isn't that ironic).

He also greatly expanded the military industrial complex before he warned about the expansion. "You can trust me with these toys, but that doesn't mean you can trust the next guy". He was right in a way, we couldn't trust the next guy, or the next, or the next, or the next, but also a hypocrite.
