Thrips and whiteflies and curling new growth

Hey guys, I have two really sad plants here. These are plants that I keep pruning because they grow too fast and the flowering room won't be free for an other two weeks.

I first noticed a lot of tiny white speckles on the leaves. Then I saw a couple of whiteflies and tiny little green larvaes on the underside of the leaves. I thought they were white flies larvaes but after searching online they are fucking THRIPS. I bought insecticidal soap that I sprayed generously over the past two days and it seems to be working, but now all the new growth is curly. Is it because of the Thrips and whiteflies feeding or is it caused by the soap? I have 4 late flowering plants on the top shelf of that cabinet and they are free of thrips damage, can they suddenly infest ripening buds?

Yes it will fuck your plants. Get some yellow sticky strips and hang them near the plants.

Yellow and Blue Sticky Traps
Sticky traps are quite valuable to growers. They are used for one of two things: Trapping or monitoring. Putting traps out in numbers can be effective in reducing airborne adult populations of certain pests like whiteflies and fungus gnats by trapping them. If used at the rate of one trap per 250 square feet, though — or one per 1000 square feet in larger or monoculture greenhouses — and checked, pests counted, on a regular schedule, changed as needed, and the results charted, sticky traps can be an effective monitoring tool.

Use yellow sticky traps to trap/monitor most pests. (Includes whiteflies, fungus gnats, shore flies,thrips, winged aphids, leafminers, scales, and many others). But be aware they may inadvertently capture parasitic wasps, midges, and beetles. Use with care. Reduce hang-duration if needed, just be consistent.

Use blue traps are for thrips only, which is helpful if you need to monitor for thrips while excluding the inadvertent capture of parasitoids like Aphidius spp. and other at-risk biocontrols. Hot pink is supposed to be another good color for thrips, but is not a commercially available trap color.

Youll see thrips. They invade fast and multiply at a fast rate. They look like little white snakes and hide in viens on the top of leaves,under leaves, and in the soil. You will usually notice them at the bottom of the plant on the leaves first.They even slither like a snake. They also cause white strips on the leaves, like something burrowed a tiny stripe on it, and lots of these little strips will be taken out.
I looked at the pictures and i dont really see the damage of thrips but the pictures arent closeups thats for sure.

If you do find they are thrips stick traps wont help worth a damn. Monteray garden insect spray works great on them. Its a product with spinosad and you can use it till late flower. Dont mind buds, hes not always too on point.

Well I've been searching all over my plants today and I found like one or two living thrips. I think the soap took care of it. I can't find any in my flowering plants on the other shelf. My vegging plants just look like shit now lol.

Ya they look over watered. Did the soap do that? Oh and if you see thrips you havent gotten rid of them. Thrips are one of the hardest bugs to fight. Most stuff doesnt work on them.

I can't remember if they looked like that 3 days ago :/. I grow in coco and perlite so they are not overwatered from the roots, maybe the soap choked the leaves. I'l keep treating them every few days.

I rarely have waste water. I try to save water and fertilizer. My other plants didn't have any problem. But yeah I empty those trays.

Anytime you have white flies or see a white fly, you need to pray that those bastards arnt hosting mites or hitchhiking thrips! The foliage curl is from the water foliar, soap will make the foliage sag a bit if you use too much. White flies are attracted to moist area's so, get rid of the thrips then diatomacious earth over the soil surface + neem preventitive sprays right before the fan & lights shut off. Try to get it done before flower.

im not sure if this is the right DE or not? It says 85% silicon dioxide from DE, 10% other elemental oxides, 5% inert ingredients. Idk if this has pesticides which i dnt want. I dnt want to kill my soil microbes and ive never used this before but i do have a minor fung gnat prob
