Hello my dears Rollitups!
First my apologize for my english. Its really difficult for me.

Last weeks was buy 4 cxb3070, 4 solderless holders, 1 Driver MW HLG 185 H and and 80ºLens and aluminium angles. The problem its I dont know how mount them.

This its my pack

First Problem: How connect the alpine 11 ? Need cut the cable? What colours it is for + and - ?
I need found a power supply. Its good 0.25 amp for alpine?

Second Doubt I buy the Driver HLG 185 Version B. This driver have 2 wires for the dimmer (in the photo its the first wire in the right) I dont have dimmer. What I do with this wire? I link up this? solder? join it? nothing?

The best doubt its the connection with the solderles holders with the Meanwell driver.

I buy the ideal solderless holders from Jerry (kingbrite)
These holder have 2 pines for + and 2 pines for -

How connect them? i think its in serial, but how do it?

Another doubt: How can screw the holder in the alpine 11 fan? Need make holes? and how screw it? or can use epoxy or another glue?
Really prefer screw it

Thnks for all my dears rollitups!
really im in torment. Need help :)

As far as the Ideal holder on the heatsink, just turn it 90 degrees so you can screw it into your heatsink. You can use some tapping screws, grab some m3 threaded 1/2 screws and tap the holes you drill.

As far as wiring, you can see a + sign imprinted on the COB holder. Insert the cob into the holder w/ the + sign on the COB on the side with the + on the holder. Then just wire them in series. Run the positive from the driver to the first cobs positive, then run a wire from the negative on that same cob to the positive on the next. Do that through all your cobs and on the last one, run it to the negative on the driver.

For the dimming function, do not do anything with them. Use a wire cap or tape them off, whatever you want. Do NOT connect them together though.

For the fans, I used a 110v-220v to 12v molex (you might need a different converter, not sure where you live). Your Alpine heatsinks should have come with a molex to 3/4 pin adapter. If not, you will need to buy one of those as well.

So did you start the build?
Are still with us!
Electricity is very dangerous you should have read a lot more before starting anything...people's playing with their live!
There still electricity in the driver for 30sec after switch off take care...
As for the dim+ and dim- wire you just need a 2 $ potentiometer and a 10cts resistor (MeanWell hlg 3 in 1 dimming options thread!) Very easy to connect and very useful fonction if like to save electricity and $!
Have a great day ★

>>>How connect the alpine 11 ?

How to power the fans? They need separate driver, 12 VDC constant voltage power supply, some people use cell phone chargers. Red or brown is usually + and black/blue -

>>>>I dont have dimmer. What I do with this wire?

If you don't want to use the dimmer, tape both wires off and don't use them. But like littlejacob says, easy to wire a potentiometer and you can turn the lamp down if you want.

As doz said, make sure you have + on cob and cob holder together. Coming from the driver, brown is + and blue is -. In series brown goes to + on cob, then - goes to next + til last - goes to blue.

Tomorrow drill the fans with a press drill and screw it the holders

Thanks You so much!

Yesterday search and search some 12v converter to molex. In EEUU its very easy found that but in europe its impossible!

But with the name of the connector i can see what wire is it.

The alpine 11 fans have 4 pins. I think i can have the connectors with a office clips. Its good? haha
Not its a problem cut with a scissor the molex connector and join it the wires.

This I hope to do tomorrow

So did you start the build? Yes today! but only the aluminium body

Are still with us!
woaaH! thanks! I can't do it alone!

Electricity is very dangerous you should have read a lot more before starting anything...people's playing with their live!

Thanks my dear neighbour. I dont know this! very important

What potentiometer need for use? What Kilo-ohms?

In the first stage i think use a cell phone charger. Its safe?
I think can use a 12V - 1 A for the 4 fans?
Each fan in the box specifications have 12v - 0.24A

Can use another power supply? Its important the safe. The grow space its in my bedroom.

>>>>I dont have dimmer. What I do with this wire?

I think its very nice the option of the potentiometer. Only need know what potentiometer buy and i will make it! :D

I reply into the quotes. ...

I read all responses all days, if not reply its because i am work hard, thinking about this or smoking ganja for relax, but the forum its open all day! ;D

Today i made the aluminium body.

All angles have 60 cm
Because its my first cob, i dont know if the distance its correct. I have more or less 30 cm Led to Led and 35 in horizontal

Its right the distances? i have a 100 x 100 cm grow space

Thanks for all responses!
You give me hope

Very clean job!
You're good with your hand (I know alk the girls told you that!...lol)
You want to cover your square meter with 4 cob?
I do this right now and the best configuration I found(the more logical to me!) Is to split your box in 4 and put a cob in the middle to get the best light spreading possible! I don't understand why some guy put 4/6/8cobs on a big hs in the middle of the box like it was an hps...Light spread is the key to use all the available photon, increase yield and lower electricity bills!
1 cxb over 50*50...if you put them in the center you will have weak light on the sides...with my configuration you will light all the surface equally and use all of it!
Have a great day ★

Hello my dears!
Today i was made the holes in the fans for the solderless holders

First clean with a tissue paper the MX4 thermal paste original from Alpine.
I put above the holder and mark the holes.

Now, in the drill press drill the holes with a 2,5 mm drill bit (the screw have 3 mm)

Can you see the holes. Now need clean the "mistake" in the aluminium surface. I use a bigger drill bit. 6 or 7 mm
Move in circles the drill bit with the hands and clean the surface. Its very quickly and easy.

Now i need make the spiral in the hole for screw it.

With a screwdriver and a 3mm screw it.

This screw dont know the name in english (maybe tap screw?)

Tomorrow i need apply the Alpine thermal paste and assembly the leds in the holders. And the holders in the fans.

Some tips?? Thanks all!

Put the cob in the holder before applying thermal paste...easier (I know it is logical but some think about it after...)
If you want to plug your wires in the holder without problems you need a single core wire or if it is multi-core tin it...if you don't the wire gonna have problems to go straight in the holder!
I used wago(grey and orange one) to be able to build and unbuild my panels without tools and very fast!
All my panels have 4 wago 2 for cob and 2 for fan...2 for the driver and 2 (5 holes) for the fan parallel wiring...I use a biggest connector for the wall side...no soldering! (I love wago...very useful and they must have exclusivity on this system pull/push!)
Yes...don't push too much pressure on the screws unless you have a dynamometer screwdriver (I am not sure if it is English! ) not too much torque...
You will have it finished soon!

Buenos días ! Good morning my dears rollers!

I found this 12v power supply. Its from a router.
Have 12v - 1A

My Alpine 11 fans works (in the specifications) at 12v - 0.24 A

Its good for me? its safe?

I have others power supplies. All from mobile phone chargers. 5v- 7V- 12V ----0,3Amp
---0,5 Amp --- 0.8Amp.... I have 6 or 8 mobile differents mobile phone chargers.. but i think the router power supply its the best.

12v -----1 Amp for 4 Alpine 11 fan.
Each fan work at 12v ---0.24 Amp

Its right?

My dear @littlejacob. How can connect all fans with the power supply with a Wago connectors?
Now i go to another town (my hometown its very little) and i try for buy these wago connector.

I never see it before

Yes wago I have are the grey with an orange clip that you open and close without tool (clip up open clip down close..connection done...
You have to find + and - on the adaptator (you could use 12V for hot days and 7 for cold if you fell it is cool enough!) The + have some little white stripe if I remember well...I took all the 4 + put it in a 5 holes wago and the plus from the adaptator in the fifth hole...same for -(I place my cob in the box put the wago on the closest hs and made my connections!)

Hello my dear LittleJacob!

I found today in a market the Wago connectors but the market not sell individual connectors. Only sell a 50 units boxes. 15 Euros the 3 holes x 50 units. And 20 Euros the 5 holes , 40 units.

I make a connector with this.

Hello!!!! my dears!!!

Today i worked hard again!

First assembly the Leds in the holders.

Second I applied the thermal paste like an X.
Its good because with the presion expand very good and not have air in the paste space

Now screw the fans with the leds and holders in the aluminium body with the M3 screws

Details of the fan connector

When i make the connetion fans and wiring the cobs in serial only need try it!

My dears Littlejacob, Doz, Rahz, Tazbud..... Thanks... Thanks so much.

If you dont help me....i think im still in torments!

Thanks!!! all!

Did you squeeze and turn the cob on the hs?
I did put a line on a side then with a razor blade I done what the french do every day...put butter on bread...lol...sprayed the TIM all along in a very thin layer and the same on the sink...some told me...less is best!
But we can say you made a good clean job in a short amount of time...congratulations mon ami!
Enjoy the difference!
Have a great day ★

Nice. I'm using about ten times less thermal paste, though:)
