Funny story. The USDA warehouse in Madison burned down. There was a 2 foot thick covering of melted cheese and butter that turned rancid.
It took 2 weeks to clean it up.

Imo, Reagan helped kill the American dream with his outlandish spending (accruing debt) and through cutting mental health.

The debt created a n......and eed for new tax income. Inflate prices and more money is needed in the household. Increase taxes and even more money is needed.

The mental health issue, imo, simply helped erode the quality of life that was part of the dream.

I'm high, so just rambling on.

This is very true...he was a big spender...and his big campaign promise was to balance the budget.

Why do Republicans call Democrats 'tax and spend liberals'...when Republicans are 'tax and spend conservatives'?

And remember when Dick Cheney said, 'deficits are overrated'?

Also, we haven't had a truly expansive, extended robust economy for a long time either (mid-late '90's), and that's really when the American Dream becomes more achievable and deficits go away. Destroying unionism doesn't help either...right to work (for way less) states exasperate the problem...and it's a perfect storm for excluding people from having a chance.

I hate to think of the dream as 'gone'...but it sure as hell is in unstable limbo...the top 1% are kicking ass though.

The only thing I didn't like about him was his "Just Say No" to drugs program.

Maybe a great economy for you, but I lived through his bullshit trickle down economy his blowing up the debt worst than Obama ever has he had to raise taxes 11 fucking times because he cut taxes so deep for the rich, us working folks suffered his bullshit economic plans plus his successor had to raise taxes too and was a 1 termer, how many Billions did he sink into starwars defense and the military (which is the righties version of a jobs program) and how many Billions did he sink into the savings and loans scandal (that we're still dealing with). He was able to ruin Russia's economy by ruining ours first, he outspent Russia on defense that's why they closed up shop.

Plus the MF should've been in prison for being a traitor. That astrological BITCH of a wife came up with "just say no to drugs", not him.

In the words of Corso312 I would like to dig them both up and skull fuck them both.

The economy was good for businesses and the rich but not us 9-5'ers or in my case 7-3.

The recession of '82 was a real bitch! The company I worked for laid off half of their employees, and the other half that was allowed to continue working got a 5% pay cut.

That was just the beginning of Ronnie Raygun's 8 years, it got worse for many people after that.

Ronnie was president of the Screen Actors Guild but showed himself as no friend of labor during his term as governor of California. I'm not in love with unions but I've definitely benefited.

True story, during the 1980 presidential campaign:

Me: Ronald Reagan is no friend of the working man.

(The dude is still Republican, a shop steward, and his wife is a big Trump supporter.)

Before Reagan we would have an election and the fingers were shaken and not "pointed". When it was done and a new person was elected. Everyone elected sat down, worked together and GOT THINGS DONE! Not any more...

Reagan was a lacky for big business....He repealed MANY laws and limits that simply opened the door for the flight of companies to leave the US and for the Banks and Brokers to smash our economy into havens for the rich and powerful.....
Look at things today...."People" don't fucking matter to our elected leaders or our employers......MONEY and PROFIT......I worked for a place that trippled profits every year for 3 years. Did we the people who actually MADE the things they profited on get anything?
At the new contract in 15 (I still keep in contact with Union officials) not even a fair raise in cost of living was offered. In fact cost of living is still on "hold" for it being to "high"......Wow they got a buck spread out over 5 years!

The company literally went from 300Mil in profits per to 3 BILLION per and the workers get nothing - "Because we don't make enough to give you more." is the line at contract time....

Now we have this evangelical MORON in Ted Cruze gaining ground.......I warn you ALL right now. If the evangelicals get the office. It will be the end of freedom (democracy is dying fast NOW) and our kids will have to go off and fight a "Holy War" in Jesus's name......The 4th crusade eh? Reagan believed in and had Jimmy Falwell in the white house for "prayer" regularly....LMFAO = Jimmy False Prophet! Best friend of Jim Baker another TV faker..... Remember when he went down? Reagan paved the way for campaign finance "reform" that now has us under the thumb of any rich asshole (superpact) with an agenda! Due to these lovely rule changes we now have a congress that spends more time stumping for money then spending time IN congress, IN session to even TRY an get something done! WE the PEOPLE are the one's paying the price...

Religion has it's place - NONE of which is in politics! Will we go down the same road again with this in front? Reagan forced the end of the cold war. BS, it was slipping away with out him. As far as nationalized medicine goes.....The republicans have a very SHORT memory! NIXON was like a week away from signing in a congressional passed bill, written BY the republicans too, that would have created a FEDERAL medical plan for EVERYBODY and it was popular! But, the insecure prick ordered the break in and the cover up known as "Watergate" and resigned from office just before that bill would have come across his desk (He swore he was going to sign it)!

Now when a Dem. does it it's communism and has to be repealed!
Reagan began the "fear" thing and ever since the Republicans spread fear........Roosevelt said it best, "There is nothing to fear but, fear it's self!"

I wonder if corporations got shot in the finger when Reagan took one in the chest? They had their hands so far up his ass..
