First grow with CFL, fluffy buds. Has any one grown all CFL? My veg is good, have 23watts bulbs 2700 Calvin with blue spectrum light. Think I need HPS added what u all thing . That's grown with CFL.

I have 30/ CFL lights-48000 lumens,8 plants. Box 6tall,4wide,5long. They look good, I think better.

I used CFLs for veg. They worked, but the growth would have been much better under an MH bulb or even the 4' floros. Thankfully I got an HPS in time for flowering. CFLs are more for the "stealth" or micro growers IMO, but they can get you through from seed to harvest. Happy growing!

I have great veg, in CFL, I Defoliate my plants 4 room. I was hoping to get by with cfls in flower, Lowe's has set up for Hps, 44$. Thanks.
Plants don't give a rip where the light comes from as long as they have enough. If they get too much of a color in the spectrum balance, they ignore it... this is why plants are green.
HPS is notoriously deficient in blue with lots of heat loss.
MH is deficient in red with too much green.
Standard White Light Fluorescent, including CFL, has way too much green... which is ignored.
LEDs are great, if you can afford enough to provide the light you need.
There are targeted spectrum CFLs at weedbulbs.com that don't break the bank.

I had 40,23watt, the heat dude. I've tried cooler ice inside, tubes running to tent, next step is small air conditioner. Tried everything else.

Hey I'm on my first grow and using cfls. you say you have 30 or 40 bulbs in your setup and your plants look like that? From what I've read, and I did a ton of research before starting, I'd say your lights are too far away from your plants I keep mine at most 5 in away and they do great and I only have 10 bulbs.
Currently on day 15 of veg I have
4 150W equivalent 6500k
4 150W equivalent 3500k
2 300W equivalent 2700k
You should post pictures of your lights and your setup to compare here's mine taken this morning

Wow! Great setup. You have plenty of lights! You gotta get those plants closer though! I would either raise up your plants until they're either right under them (like less than 5in) or lower your lights right above them!

Thanks for the chart, that helps. I use Co2, two exhaust fans, two inter exhaust from outside, one exterior. I even use cooler chest for ice in summer, Heats a bitch

If your saying I need light in the soil, why? The leaves are what absorb light. In the woods no light hits the soil due to leaves. Same goes for anything that has mulch like flower beds.

You can still grow dense bud wit cfl's but you've got to keep the room cool! You need plenty of fresh air and dense genetics. With spiral 23w cfl's you want to keep that bastard 2"-2.5" away from buds at all times without burning anything.
