Ok so would it would be a waste of time to try and c9ver a 4x4 spot with a 600w hps or should I just stick with 3x3 ?
What ends up happening is that you get strong growth in the 2x2' patch under the lamp and then a combination of weak light and walls too far away for effective redirection, and that foot wide strip all the way around the tent just doesn't produce.Ok so would it would be a waste of time to try and c9ver a 4x4 spot with a 600w hps or should I just stick with 3x3 ?
4 x 600W would light a 6 x 6' area really nicely.Well I have 3 600s with a 4th on its way, I just got a new room to start growing and am in the process of setting up.
Hey tty,4 x 600W would light a 6 x 6' area really nicely.
Having played with them for years, I'll agree they have their uses - and their limitations. They're good for moving the light source enough to help with penetration. They won't magically create yield unless the light distribution in the room is truly substandard.Hey tty,
Happy new year.
Yes, four 600s for a 6 x 6 canopy. I'm a believer in the benefit of light movers-----especially with multiple lights ( the plants get light coming and going).

Absolutely not. I use 5x6 per 1k. People wonder why there yields are less .. The more sqft of canopy you have the more nugs you get.Ok so would it would be a waste of time to try and c9ver a 4x4 spot with a 600w hps or should I just stick with 3x3 ?

I have a few de but mostly only single ended . I don't use glass currently and I do oversize my air conditioners. Did you clean up the bottoms enough? Did you have a xl reflector ? What is normal weight for you under 4x4?Hey pat,
If I remember correctly, you're running double-ended lights------no glass, sealed room with large air conditioning to keep temps within bounds?
The 5 x 6 canopy footprint you suggest is based on a de light?
I have no experience with the DEs-----only conventional single ended 1K hps hortilux, air cooled on movers.
I have tried to cover a 5 x 5 canopy with a 1K hortilux-----just wasn't satisfied with the perimeter bud quality----so I backed off to a 4 x 4.
edit: If you have a light meter, would you please measure at what distance directly below the bulb is 10,000 foot candles (max sunlight intensity, here anyway)

I've never seen the need to use a cool tube vertically, the heat rises up and away with just a bit of help from a fan.I'm gonna revive this a minute. I have a 400w and a 600w cooltube. Can I angle these to get a better footprint? And also @ttystikk , can I use a cooltube with wing reflectors sideways for a vertical grow? I don't have the resources to go barebulb right now.
I need more lights
