I'm actually FROM southern california, I just retired here at age 37, a decade ago.

No need, you're arguing with the experts on the subject and telling me how I'm being unreasonable. The chariot/bicycle/car was a perfect example because it's a FACT. Bicycle is a synonym of chariot, as is car. You can't bullshit your way out of that any more than you can bullshit your way out of the FACT that service department is just as much a synonym for garage as service station. Not that that was the litmus test anyways.

I won't even delve into your "transitive theory" disaster. I'm getting more than a little embarrassed for you at this point.
Bahahaha I never said a word about transitive theory. Bicycle is not synonymous with chariot. You found it on thesaurus.com under a search for bicycle and missed the header where bicycle and chariot are listed under "vehicle." You fail at logic, you're failing at English. You're done, stop acting like an impudent child. That embarrassment you're feeling is for yourself, but I'm not embarrassed for you; I just feel pity for you.

that was me. if three words are synonyms, that basically if a=b, b=c then a=c. he tried to argue that it didn't work. but it was words he thinks are synonyms : garage, service station and service dept.

get back to my dog analogy.

fat = obese, obese=rotund so fat=rotund. see it works there.

i'm not sure if his "blockage" is on the actual meaning of synonym or he doesn't know the transitive property. guessing both?

Actually, I provided a lucid argument and provided links to evidence. Something I rarely do for the vapid liberals on this forum, for the exact reason to which you have graciously provided an example. You cannot admit defeat, even when you're bathing in it.
"lucid" joke, you're a well known clueless JA. GTFOH

I am quite sure you are quite 'lucid' in your head and your 'links' will provide clear evidence of what you want to believe.. The important thing to remember is that nobody cares what you think.

if words are synonyms, they can be used interchangeably.

my dog is fat. my dog is obese. my dog is rotund. would you agree they are all mean the same or almost the same?

i get my gas at the corner service station. i get my gas at the corner garage. i get my gas at the corner service department. see how your doesn't work? if the words mean the same, the transitive property works every time. it's only in your case where the words don't mean the same the transitive property doesn't work.
I get my car repairs done at the local service department, I get my car repairs done at the local garage. I get my car repairs done at the local service station. That's weird because all of them work. Just because you chose gas as the litmus test, doesn't make it a valid argument. I buy my oil at the corner service department. I buy my oil at the corner garage. I buy my oil at the corner service station. Oops, that works too.

However, your transitive property doesn't work every time for synonyms, nor is it a requirement for synonyms.

I'm sorry you don't understand how thesaurus.com works. "Under the header" of vehicle simply means bicycle is a SYNONYM for chariot if you are using the term chariot as a vehicle, which we are. It doesn't mean that bicycle is only a synonym for vehicle.

Holy shit, you can't be this dense.

No it isn't. It was listed under vehicle, chariot and bicycle being synonyms for vehicle. I mean, unless now you're saying that it's transitive. What I've been saying is that chariot and bicycle are NOT synonymous - which they aren't. Holy shit, you just keep proving how idiotic you are.

You're wrong. They are CLEARLY listing bicycle and car as synonyms for chariot, not vehicle. The vehicle tab is only denoting how chariot is being used. You apparently don't understand what the "tabs" mean.

You might notice, directly above the list of words, it says "Synonyms for Chariot"

There are almost always tabs for the word you input, as many words have multiple uses. In this case it is listing SYNONYMS for the word chariot being used in its definition as a vehicle.

Clown shoes.

I'll give you this, you've done a great job at dodging the abject failure of your claim that service department isn't a synonym for garage. I especially like the moment you realized your failure and tried to add "detached" like it was ever in the discussion.

Go ask 50 local service departments if they refer to that part of the dealership as the garage. I always preferred "shop", but that's just me.

Sarah Palin never said that, an actress on SNL said it and people have been repeating it ever since....
when asked in an interview with Charles Gibson what insight she had gained living so close to Russia. Her answer was

"They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

Palin is a dumb unfit mother who McCain should have never picked as his running mate. Can you even imagine the mess this country would have been with her as POTUS. OMG

So, she said what was the truth and you want to call her dumb for that?

The quote about being able to see Russia from her house was made by an acress on SnL and not Palin. I am not sure which part you think was stupid.

There's no doubt that she's a polarizing idiot, but she's right on this one.

"Russia and Alaska are divided by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait are two small, sparsely populated islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can definitely see one from the other."

I've been to Little Diomede & you can definitely see "Big" easily on a good day.
