Too many roots?

Question, if I was to skip the whole slicing and dicing or shaking of the roots and just added 3 or 4 inches of new promix at the bottom then sat the plant on top of that, would it be fine? Or does it have to be cut or pulled apart to initiate new growth?

Don't do anything man, if you insist on that, add something other than promix, promix is virtually empty of anything, just peat and perlite.
You said you are starting 12/12.
DONT do anything unless you want to vege another 15 days or so

Yes I was going to begin 1212 today. Like flip the lights when I get home. I just got worried about potentially loosing out on yield because of being rootbound. I appreciate the input. I would like not to haveto pull them out if I didn't have to. They almost feel stuck in the buckets and I have to really beat on them and yank them to budge them out. I have so much good feed back from you guys. But if you guys believe they will be ok I think I'm going to say fuck it and see what happens and just flip the lights. I'll definitely use bigger pots next time though. Maybe I'll add dirt to two or three and see what difference it will make.

all rootbound actually means is your pots will hold less nutes and dry out quicker . if you dont want to repot just water your plants the same amount as normal but split it to 2 or 3 times a day instead of once a day ......

just banging on them and pulling them out of the container is going to stress them out.
They aren't rootbound yet, but they will be...
Ideally i'd transplant into a container that's at least 8 or ten gallons, and then in 12 days or so i'd flip.
But flipping tonight?
don't do anything.
You can do alright under rootbound conditions, just check out the party cup guys and what they can do out of a party cup.
Given your options that's what i'd do.
But ideally you'd transplant into more soil and give them another two weeks in vege

if you feed hydroponically.
if you are like me, and use just an amended soil, well then you're fucked.
BUT I never use anything less than a 5 gal on trained plants, or 3s if they are not trained and cloned.
my favorite is to use a 15 gal smartpot and put four of the same clones in there, train to a corner, and you can get 8 big ass colas in one 15 gal.
Recently I've been toying with going to just 3 gals, and top them to get me four colas, normally I LST to get a six pack of each plant but it's taking too much time.
Flipped quicker and I can squeeze in a whole extra harvest per yr

That plant isnt rootbound, and people telling you to cut your roots in the middle of flower are nuts...leave it alone. If you dont have bigger pots then learn for next time, but dont cut your damn roots off in flower..

The plant in my sig (autoflower) yeilded nearly 6oz,was less than 18in tall grown in a fabric pot, when I harvested the pot was completely ridgid with roots,it felt like a hard plastic pot...thats rootbound.I had roots coming out the top of the soil...again leave them alone,if you are overwatering then learn watering discipline.

I wait till they are decently dry but not too dry. the good thing is this strain is 100% done 8 weeks from flip. so they only have to make it 56 days. what would you consider good watering discipline for my scenario?

Thats good just make sure the top couple inches is dry before watering, you will get a feel for how heavy the pots are after watering..when they need water you can feel how light the pot is,if they wilt water them, but its much better to underwater than overwater.Overwatering interferes with nutrient absorption and rootzone ph.

transplanting is really the only way to go.. you're going to seriously shortchange yourself for all the effort this far if you don't.. especially w/ those beautiful roots! those will seriously kick some ass after the flip.

what I haven't seen is a reason why you aren't comfortable w/ doing it, other than your count under the bulb.. I'm guessing no sq ft floor space for bigger pots? if so, maybe you can go up, and not "out." Cut the bottoms out of your current "pots" (the buckets you've got) and buy new ones, fill 'em w/ your medium of choice and stick the plants (still in their original and freshly bottomed buckets) on top. Adjust height by quantity of new soil in bottom bucket.. maybe half?

Well the main reasons are low ceilings......like 6'6". And no other pots also. I would like to transplant but I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. I could add a few inches of promix in the bottoms. So more than others. They all settled slightly and I usually leave an inch or two of extra space.

Bro I'm pretty sure the consensus is to just click and flower and that your not and won't be pot bound after week 8. Some really good gardeners chimed in and gave their knowledge. You have one hell of a nice root system going on there.

Honestly that's my problem......I'm too indecisive and I want to take everyone's advice! If I would not have even pulled the plants out (which I have never done in the past) I would never know how the roots looked. Truthfully I know that I'm going to do 1212 tonight. I'm just a worry wort and smoke too much so I think about all ends I guess. I will definitely keep you guys posted. On a plus side my shipment of bug spray arrived and I will also be doing that today too!

Been flowering for 2 days now. I let things dry out a lot more between waters and been useing heavier nutes than I was. Things seem to be doing a lot better. They have greened back up and stopped drooping.

Unfortunately I don't have any of the resources needed for a transplant. I would need to-

A. Just flower the way they are and hope for the best.

B. Take clones and cut them down and don't let the next ones get root bound.

My schedule won't allow for any major job as in transplanting to happen for at least the next 2-3 weeks. (I'd have to g o to the grow store, then have time to replant 18 of these).

If it were you, would you choose A or B?

Thanks.
You a tote if you can find one them work perfectly
