Bee keeping

What do you need to know ?? its pretty expensive hobby to get going but if your serious find a local association / club and they an help you get going ,,
But most of all First of all check your local by laws then order a tube 10,000 bees and order a Queen :)

I've kept bees for a long while, once you learn about bees if you don't know its pretty easy. It can be pricey at first but its not that bad. I saved money by making my own hives. Collecting their honey and pollen is fascinating. Brushy mountain , Dadant, Walter Kelley are all company names that can help you. I bought a box of Italian bees with the queen for $39.00 from a place outside Oregon. Message me any specifics . I may have an answer. Good luck

Money is not a problem! And no local association, I live in a very small town :/ I found a bee keeper located a few hours away from me that sells bees. So I will probably get them from him.

Hey man! I live in Canada but have found places that sell bees. I was curious what style of hive I should go with as a first time bee keeper? I've been reading about these top bar bee hives and they seem like the most basic version of a hive. I'll be keeping them at a organic flax farm about a half hour out of town.

Local bees are best if you have the access to them, just make sure that when you get them it has a queen and don't buy her separate or for extra money. Langstroth style hives will keep it simple and really easy

Reason i said get a hold of whom ever to make sure its ok you live in a small town So have I and they also have town Hall , where you can actually find out All towns have by laws, to protect everyone , just saying they may allow or my not ??

Its ;like saying ok going to get a full grown Tiger or lion for a pet , Cause i live in a small town walk it down main street unleashed ??? see how fast shit would hit the fan ??

Bee's can swarm and be a issue , if your hive is low or high can also dictate flight path or what ever and bother people neighbors you name it
there are lots of Diy 8 frame hives you can find on line and yeah giver , i said earlier go meet someone inquire ask if he an give you pointers ,, on everything from collecting proper hive management reproduction , of queens . drones etc proper winter storage to prevent kill off etc


Again i would go with 8 frame as it would weight less as for bees really doesn't matter

Yes , 8 is lighter I ran 10 but that's just preference. It is polite to let your neighbor know if you have any. You are correct , a bee keeping club or organization is fantastic for info.
 
Hey all well as usual forgot camera but got the amount of honey in stock haha 10.2 million pounds holy crap Eh 16,000 55 gallon drums FULL haha
