types of leaves - fat and skinny

I have 5 plants growing indoors. 18" high after 3 weeks, starting to sprout 3rd pair of leaves. ( I have to say I have been very lucky with almost no effort or extra money spent) They are all healthy and doing quite well...
My question is that some plants have long skinny leaves and some have fat shorter ones... It's too early to tell if they are male or female, but Im curious to know if I may have created some type of Hermie .... I have never had the fat leaves before.. The seeds were in my freezer for 2 years so have no clue what they are...

You can only tell what gender they are when there making pistils and pods . =/ i think
wait for other people to help im not experienced enough to say lol

I do know they are all from the same strain, so thats why I was wondering the difference. I didn't know Sativa and Indica could come from the same parents...
(but I have seen two brunette parents make a red-head baby, so i guess anything is possible...)

Thanks Charlie, but I was actually wondering about the strain i might have. But you are right, I might find out more then...

Sativa dominate strains usually have the skinny leaflets. Indica strains have the fatter leaflets. You definitely have 2 different strains.

Did you say 18 inches tall with 3 sets of leaves? That sounds like one big stem. I'd say if that were true, then your plants are stretching for more light.

I just noticed that myself. They can't be 18" tall, and you definitely can't start flowering yet. It's the three weeks thing that's bugging me. A plant can get to 18" tall in three weeks. Mine did.

What sort of light are you using and how far away is it? What medium(s) are you using to cultivate?

Also it is possible for hybrids to follow one trait more than the other, even when they come from the same parents.

ok! so what did i do? i have a plant growing witch was started out as a joke. i threw like 10 seeds in a pot an wanted to see if these seeds would come up togeather, now i took one out of the bunch that sprouted up, and its like 7'' high theres like 10 sets of leafs. i mean this thing is bushy! kinda dont know what to think. theres leafs coming out right next to others upsidedown..
so any one know whats up?

Lemmi make sure I have the node thing correct. Let's say "8"s represent a pair of leaves and a "--" represents stem. So if I have a 2.5 week old plant that is --8--8--8--8--8 would that mean it has 5 nodes?

The answer is yes, you have 5 nodes... taken any clones yet? Doesn't really matter, the best time to take clones is just after the first week of flower. It's best if you trim the lower branches anyway.

theplants 4 weeks old and i just trimed 2 leafs off. and theres still 16 leafs. wear theres leafs coming out i have duel sets comimg out of the same node. i have never seen anything like it. its growing all retarded

well anyways guys.. thanks for any helap i can get.
