They are not cheap. Works best if your house already has natural gas and you have a gen that uses that, otherwise if you're going to leave fuel in a generator for long periods, you need to go diesel. Do some searches, there are set ups that will automatically flip your power from the street to the generator when it detects an outage, but it'll cost you.

Edit: that's for "whole house" generators that cover your whole electric panel. I suppose there may be smaller ones, if you have a sub-panel for your grow space then when it detects an outage it could just supply power to the sub-panel? Still going to need a fuel that can sit or be on demand though.

I was just looking at heatsinks for my 16 cob build and found these mechatronix pin fin heatsinks. I was hoping someone could let me know if they would work or not. Has anyone tried them?

Okay so I just paid for
(16)cxb3590s cobs
(4)MW Hlg c1400A drivers
... I didn't realise I got c1400A drivers till just now. Will this be a problem in terms of a dimming feature?
Bout to order heatsinks now. Any professional suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

You'll have internal dimming via a screw like potentiometer underneath a rubber cap. B versions come with blue and white leads you manually connect a pot to and gives you full 0-100% dimming. But you wanna use a 10k resistor as to not go below 10%

Quick question; have you put your light bars on a Kill-a-watt? I did it to mine, running cxb3590 72V and 700ma, and I ended up getting some 54W to each COB, and the whole fixture pulled 225W. Once I saw that result, I did a little backtracking and found that capping the dimming wires on a Meanwell B model driver causes it to run 8% more output. Not even complaining lol, but it does mean that four of my fixtures adds up to 900W, not 800W.

Just wondering what yours actually pulls from the wall.

You just got the 36V version of my fixtures. Where I'm putting the same light on 24 sq ft and getting 824 PPfD, I believe you'll get half again as much light intensity running over only 16 sq ft, in the 1240 PPfD range.

That's pretty damn bright, I seriously doubt you'll find it inadequate for anything but roasting marshmallows. For that, you need a Gavita!

Once it is built you can tell me how to do this and I can post the results. I am currently in the ordering process.

Can someone give a complete tools and materials list? I have never done this before so i have none of the necessities. I will not be tapping into the heatsink. Thanks in advance , i just want to be ready when all the parts arrive.

Don't use kapton. It's simple, order M3 8mmlong self tapping Phillips pan head screws off eBay and drill a 7/64" hole where you need them. These ssl rews push there own threads into the hole, Tapping themselves.
