Well. This is my rant of the month '',,,,,,,,,,,,,,some,People seem to be under the impression that if they can grow marijuana they are " greenthumbs"
I would suggest to those people to try and grow a vegetable garden large enough to last all winter or atry groing a maple tree or an oak tree , then they might ease up on all the fantasy talk about being some sort of horticulturist for growing bud,, there. I feel better now

I know most of you dont fall in this categorie but the ones that do are impossible to talk with,,
So you have monthly PMS ?

I've seen people who have awesome gardens but their weed looks like shit so I guess that could go both ways. The outdoor garden for me is by far the hardest. The bugs took out quite a bit last year and blight got my tomatoes after the worm massacre.

I've never grown a single thing in my entire life aside from cannabis. Never had even the slightest urge to. I've been growing weed for 5 years now and I still learn something every time.

Applying a little common sense its not hard grow anything really. Indoors or out. Cannabis or any other plant or foodcrop. Not hard at all
Why do they jave 4year courses in plant science and horticulture if they only need a 'litle common sense" ?? ?????!!????????

I dont know...you tell me. I know that application of a little common sense when growing cannabis or vegetables you can bang out some really nice crops. Big difference between a person with decent vreenthumb skills and someone going to get a botany shingle....night and day difference.

There is a colossal amount of variance in quality and quantity that different growers can produce given the same environment (lights, ventilation, etc). I don't see what the point of this post is..

I think you may be a little too uptight about this whole green thumb meaning/usage. All green thumb means is you generally have success gardening and growing plants. I have never seen anyone use in regards to an 'elite' status. My wife has no green thumb. I do because I generally have success with growing plants and taking care of them and helping them recover if ill. I grew up on a farm and have gardened since being a child. I dont think of myself as better because I say I have a green thumb.

Cannabis may be perceived as more difficult. I saw it that way at first too.

I blame you guys. And me too. I blame us, Cannabis growers, for that perception.

New Cannabis growers are assaulted with terms, techniques, and suggestions on what they should do. And they listen. I mean:

pH, EC, PPM, NPK, RH, CFM, soil, supersoil, soilless, hydroponic, soluble, soluble organic, organic, brix, myco, endo , ecto, amino acids, B vitamin complex, superthrive, 1000 options in colorful bottles, light spectrums, PAR, lumen, micromol, humus, fulvic acid, molasses, preharvest flushing.

Warnings about hermies, overwatering, overnuting, light burn, sexing, deficiencies, toxicities, chlorine, chloramine.

And that's just the terms. Once definitions come, it gets really confusing. Example: Define pre-harvest flushing.
I've received three very different answers to that question.

Then, hop on a tomato forum, and they're talking about pruning "suckers" in the newbie forum. Maybe which time release fertilizer should I use. The advanced articles there, are on the organic stuff we're already doing over here.

Over here, we have kids setting up 1000W lamps with CO2 because that's what maximizes yield, they're told.

Over there, good soil, water, and a balanced time release fertilizer.

The community makes it seem hard. I had to unlearn much of my early reading and research before things got easier.

My two cents.

Forums have come full circle these days for sure. Ive noticed alot of really good growers....the experienced solid greenthumbs dont post much if at all. Just look at apl the posts on a the forums...especially here at riu. Its all noob growers with plant problems or dumb questions that have been answered a bazillion times over. Or they want to know your exact setup down to every detail (esp if you post pix) because they think if they copy it they will get those results.

I know. I came here from 420Mag hoping for more mentor like people to follow. I was targeting people with a high like : post ratio and lots of posts, but that criteria is apparently seriously flawed.
