"12-1"

I first learned about this when I read article written by Dennis Peron. The idea, in VEGETATION in one 24 hour cycle, have lights:
VEG:
On for 12 hours,
Off 5 1/2 hours,
On 1 hour,
Off 5 1/2 hours

This works b/c photoperiod interrupted enough to inhibit flowering and you will (surprisingly) achieve at least the success you realized prior at savings of nearly 30% less KWH used.

FLOWERING:
This is elective, but you can start:
12 1/2 hours Off / 11 1/2 hrs ON

Two weeks later, reduce 15 min to...
12 3/4 hrs Off / 11 1/4 hrs On

Two weeks later, reduce 15 min:
13 Off / 11 On

Two weeks later, reduce 15 min:
13 1/4 Off / 10 3/4 On

If 10 Week strain, 2 weeks later...
13 1/2 Off / 10 1/2 On

Use less KWH, hasten ripening time, and same yields...

"Tops Too Close to Lights in Flowering!!!"

Learned this tip watching vid from cat at Homegrown Natural Wonders...

If you want to keep those newly budding tips growing perilously close to light in flowering, but can no longer move light...

1) IMPORTANT: WATER THEM WELL first, give them 30min-1hr after (or more depending on how "dry" you let them go prior, how high airflow/ventilation, and/or if low RH)

2) Determine the desirable direction you would like top to "fold," then locate segment of internode (stem) that is
a) far enough down from "bud growth" site, and
b) far enough down that if bent at that point (and estimating for some "bounce back" response from plant towards light/ additional new growth) it will have adequate distance from light.

3) Place your thumb of one hand, using your nail a bit, at the selected location for bending and with the other hand, SLOWLY fold top over towards/on top of your thumb trying not to go too fast/ too far or else you risk breaking too much plant fiber and top may not hold/survive. Dont be afraid to bend up to 90 degree angle as it will heal fine SO LONG AS YOU WATERED WELL / WAITED...

You will be amazed how the top grows back stronger and biggg!!!

"Organic PH Down"

This is especially helpful if you want to be organic (but not ready to go TLO or ROLS) and are using liquid organic nutrients in soil ("soupstyle" as Rev calls it).

Bragg organic apple cider vinegar!

Incase anyone didn't know you can use aloe or willow tree water to clone your cuttings.

clone with aloe, simply prepare a solution of aloe and water. I use a half inch leaf chunk of aloe and squeeze the goo into a glass of clean water, stir well.

Soak cutting(s) in aloe/water solution for a half day or so then they are ready. You can put them in soil, rapid rooter plugs, aero/bubble cloner... How ever you do it. I currently use a rapid rooter plugs myself.

Also you can use a lemon to ph your h2o down if need be. Personally I wouldn't suggest doing this in hydro though. I've used the vinegar though, and maybe it's just me but when I did in the past my ladies seemed to like it. (:

Tried all kinds of photoperiod manipulation tricks over the years.....most of it was bullshit. If they worked i would be using them to this very day. I stick to 18-6 veg and 12-12 bloom because it gives me the most consistent results. You start playing with photoperiod (especially with all the new "strains" these days) you start playing with hermies.

So I'm trying to clone for the first time...ive read a bunch...i have a dome rooting gel sterile equipment rockwool ...do I need any thing besides distilled water or does tap water work better ..do I need to add anything to water for rockwool to soak in? And do I make one cut off plant then another off cutting ..do I dip in water immediately or cut and gel?....these are what I'm cloning 818 headband Cali connection fem seeds they will be 4 weeks old on sundayWP_20160309_15_28_45_Rich.jpg 2 in yellow buckets are auto lemon skunk and great white shark

That's exactly what I was fixing to say, lol just didnt. Some strains like you said are already pron to herm, so I myself wouldn't want to do anything to help along with that.. shit especially considering the cake I have invested in it all.

Looking good bro. What I've done in the past that's worked for me with a 95% rate is I take and clean my clone area really well, then I take my selected strain I sant to clone then start slicing away my clones. Upon each one I take I then take my scalpel and rough up the outer layer of the stem just a little then dip into mh gel or powder then simply add to your cloner or plugs whichever you decided to use. Good luck. (:

The use of distilled water is not the best idea.

Distilled water contains no dissolved O2.

Not having dissolved O2 in the water will make the cutting take longer. It will also severely reduce successful seed popping! The lack of O2 in water used to pop seeds leads to "drowned" seeds that fail to pop or die quickly there after! This is why MANY seed breeders are beginning to tell you to NOT "soak" seeds before attempting to start them!

AVOID DISTILLED WATER!

Always take the "clone" from as low on the plant as you can!
The lower the "branching" removed to clone, the less N is in the ends.
These "low" N branch's root FASTER then their high off the plant branch's that are higher in N at the new growth.....FACT

I really dislike threads like theses. This thread should be titled "tricks everyone already knows, but I want to feel like I know some shit" The gas lantern method, ph'ing using vinegar, and super cropping are nothing new. New to YOU maybe, but not to the weed growing community.

Sorry if this post offends, but "$lick tips" yea... not so much.

ZERO hermies...perhaps you should try it b4 u knock it...

I have bro. Many times years and years ago. Dont get pissy. It just never gave me postive results.
Haha I aint upset, homie, you'd know. Def appreciate you posting your experience... Im simply saying it is misleading to suggest this leads to herms b/c the actual photoperiod manipulation occurs in Veg!

Further, why would you do it for years if you got "herms" and "no positive results?"

Take care :bigjoint:
